That processor is 2 generations old. Otherwise it would be a great laptop, but there are better deals with better specs than this.
Thanks you for noticing ! It is getting hard to keep up with the Intel generations since they use similar looking numbers each time and I have paid much less attention to Intel since AMD began kicking their butt. This is typical for eBay though. Some great prices if you are willing to settle for older models BUT sometimes the older models are priced just a notch lower than the latest model and the seller hopes you don't notice.
In my observation anything Lenovo official at eBay seems very old gen processors with lower prices
Most Intel are with 8th gen fur example
I would suggest not to buy here. Try open box deals at best buy, we get latest processors and deep discounts. You can get original warranty for some of them etc..

This is an AMD processor.
For everyone else, be wary of Lenovo's customer support, as it can be very hit or miss. General consensus is that they treat Thinkpad customers better, but other people have claimed weeks or months of turnaround time for repairs, and sometimes their laptop comes back unchanged. YMMV.

It's not so much that it's two generations old (it's not exactly, as the 5000 series was just announced and won't be widely available until spring/summer), but that this Ryzen 7 3700U is easily outperformed by the 4700U and even the Ryzen 3 4300U: https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Com...8vsm765724. A X-series ThinkPad with 4000 series Ryzen would be a good deal, this one is not a good buy.
To everyone moaning about the age of the specs: The Lenovo eBay store usually is where they offload the last of their old stock. It's always been the case. It's new model season for thinkpads so expect super deep discounts on 2 generation old model, and decent discounts on 1 generation old models

I recently had to send my thinkpad a475 on for repair. They overnighted a shipping box on the 6th. I got it at noon while I was at work next day. I scheduled pickup on the 8th. I got it back yesterday on the 13th repaired.
