Pour nutrients in it every few weeks, and give them haircuts.

Mine got this green algae growing on the roots and killed the plant. That's with changing out the water every month.

FYI: BedBathBeyond has it for $100 and the 20% coupons can be applied (easy to get via email/text signup)

I ordered mine yesterday but it went OOS so I didn't post. It looks like it's going in-and-out of stock so YMMV.

EDIT: whoops, I guess someone already mentioned this earlier in the thread.

I got my wife one for Christmas. She puts food in when it says to put food in. She puts water in when it says to put water in. It's pretty easy and we've already gotten great results.

Easy to maintain but I feel like the produce have very little flavor. I'm guessing it's from lack of soil nutrients (eg iron). Cilantro from the store or outside tastes wayyy better. Food for thought.

A capful of h2o2 in the water, and block all the openings that you can.

AND... after all that time & money. All you're end up with scrawny, withered plants.
My therapist has a few in his office. He must've spent close to $500 and they look like weeds from the gardner.

This is not difficult, I'll tell everyone this one neat trick!
I only grow genovese basil, and only put two pods in, in the furthest slots from each other. Cover up the other holes and only grow two basil pods. You can grow this for a few months if you keep it trimmed. You need to keep it trimmed away from the light, or it will bolt and flower on you. After a few months, when the roots are just ridiculously overrunning the water reservoir, you just throw it out and get two new pods.
I've never been able to grow a full aerogarden, and I don't believe it to be possible. The things is just too small - some herbs will grow quickly shade out the others, and this leads to all the complaints of difficulty and mold.

If you trim the basil properly, and put the cuts in some water with the diluted aerogarden nutrient mix, the cut will grow roots after a few days you can and plant it in dirt outside.
