S21+ is a downgrade from S20+ in every category except larger battery. So why would anyone upgrade? Are we dumb or is Sammy crazy??

I'm on the T-Mobile JUMP plan where you give them your old phone, they wipe your balance, and you start a new payment plan with the new phone. Because the s20 Ultra was more than the s21 Ultra, my monthly payment will actually go down.

I remember we were able to enter our purchase information on the Samsung site to get the pre-order credits last time. So I was still able to order from T-Mobile and get the $250 in accessory credits. Does anyone know if we can do that this time as well?

Are you guys being taxed by the price before all the discounts? The tax just totally killed the deal.
My summary is like this:

Subtotal - $1,077.93
Shipping - Free
Estimated taxes - $71.65
Total - $311.13
Total savings - $838.45
That's based on your State. Samsung has no control. Some States mandate tax on full amount; others tax on the discounted amount.

Another way to look at it is the discount is treated like a rebate. Imagine if you bought $100 software with a $20 rebate at Staples. Staples would charge tax on the $100.

Coming from a 1 year old Galaxy S10e 128GB, think it's worth it to upgrade to the S21 256GB? It's $380 upfront including Cali tax. Factoring in 10% cashback and selling buds pro, net cost will be ~$250 or so. thoughts?
How do you get $380 including tax? The CA tax is about $90+

Edit: Just realized you said S21 256Gb not S21+ 256Gb. I traded in S10e for S21+ 256Gb. total $450+ including CA tax

I'm not seeing any estimated taxes, even at the final check-out screen. Do they only show up after you order it?

I don't know. I'm marinating on this one.

I already have the base Note 20 from last August, that ultimately cost me around $580 after all the discounts. So I already have no microSD, already have 8GB of RAM. The cameras would be about the same. My screen is a 6.8 inch screen, currently. And I don't have a 120MHz refresh rate option, and obviously the Snapdragon 888 processor should be better than my Snapdragon 865+ processor.

I spent the $150 in credit last year on some things, like a Super Faster Charger. So, if I trade in my Note 20 Basic for a phone, I don't need the phone to have a charger in the box.

And now, the Tmobile thing is enticing me a bit more. But the big thing that I see is that Samsung doesn't give you a better trade-in value if you have a higher-end version of a phone.

The Note 20 Ultra is $700. The Note 20 Basic is $700. Heck, even the S20 Basic is retaining a $700 trade-in value even though its about 5-6 months older than those phones.

I'd like to stick with the Note, but I don't know if the Note series is definitely being phased out or not. Samsung is clearly releasing something in the second half of the year, especially considering they pushed up the S21's release date.

I'm think of making a sideways move here. Note 20 basic for the Tmobile S21 basic. I would be sacrificing a bit of screen size.

Maybe I would consider Note 20 basic for the S21+ to still retain a 6.7 inch screen. That would be $190, but there's also the option to bump it up to 256GB for $237.50. Maybe I could do the cancellation trick and try to lower that a bit more. I am buying this from a different Samsung account from which I bought the Note 20 last year.

I have a question, the Tmobile version of the basic S21 is discounted (showing $71.24 including the discount). And that's the 128GB version, and there is no other available version in 256GB or 512GB.

The Sprint/Tmobile version of the basic S21 has a 256GB version that sells for about $50 more than the 128GB version. I would pay the extra $50 for the extra storage space.

I have Tmobile, but the microSIM card that I've been using since 2017 when I signed up with Tmobile has already been used with a phone that was sold by Tmobile, or buying a fully unlocked phone direct from Samsung.

Could I buy the Sprint/Tmobile version of the S21 and use my Tmobile microSIM or would I have to do something else my service active on that phone?

I would upgrade from S10e. Whether from sammy itself, or it you are staying long term with say TMO or other carriers (I know TMO offers $800, mostly bill credits, for S10e trade)

Anyways, the S10e is kinda like the apex of max trade in vs. least valued phone. . .so go for it wherever you do so at.

thanks. i'm already on t-mobile but honestly don't care for the bill credits as the money comes back over 30 months and i'll likely want to upgrade my phone before then (esp considering the last couple upgrade timing). i rather deal with the much lower entry price now and get it over with. also, the S10e 128GB only has 6GB ram and 1080p screen so S21 is somewhat upgrade esp with 120Hz screen. I do use the expandable memory so will have to opt for 256GB version to be safe. the slightly bigger screen comes with extra weight but much bigger battery so i think it's worth it.

Thanks, turns out I had to enter my email address in addition to the delivery address and other info. Wanted to make sure there were taxes for the Amex Promo spending requirement.

Hey, I think you have a misunderstanding about the t-mobile deal. It's actually a lower entry on t-mobile as you only pay for taxes upfront. Then over the next 24 months, you pay a monthly fee and have a bill credit applied at the same time. Overall, your monthly payment is based on how big the initial credit they give you is for your trade in phone. Also you can pay off the remaining balance at anytime if you want to requalify for a new offer (the bill credits will continue).
