I have the older version of this and while the battery is not meant to be user serviceable, replacing it yourself is both easy and cheap. A new battery is about $15 on Amazon and replacing it just involves using a shim to pop the case open. ifixit.com has a guide.
Your advice is still good advice. I'm just saying it's not the end of the world if you do have to replace the battery.
This same unit was on SD a couple weeks ago for $108 shipped direct from FLIR. Received mine before Christmas, works great btw.
You can use the real deal ( Flir or Fluke) for free ( SF for me or check your Utilty Co. ) https//pge.myturn.com/library/ Free tool loan!

I always want to buy this deal when it comes up but all I can think is - does it get lost in my junk drawer first or does that micro usb connector break off first? They really should have done some attachment to secure this thing to your phone for $300 list price.

There's no universal phone mount so you cant. Usb-c to USB adapter and USB to microusb cable would at least give flexability.
This thing is a waste of time and money. Just received mine, the temp accuracy is not good. Feels more like a toy camera with colorful filters than a useful tool.

A 3D printed parts should solve the problem. I would have designed one but planning on returning it, feels like a toy camera for kids than a proper thermal camera.

last year when i was looking for an IR camera to evaluate circuit boards, i was debating between this one and the SEEK.
they both suck. I don't know why the reviews are good. the SEEK is better, but not by much. it would be good for large items, like looking at your walls to see where heat is escaping. other than that, i don't know what you would use these for. hunting i guess? because they do work great to see animals where you normally cant see them.
also the refresh rates are very low. like annoyingly low.
but i think to do circuit board work you need higher resolution. by a lot. i think youre talking about spending $10k+ though.
When I worked in manufacturing, my company would hire a vendor to fly a helicopter over our facilities and IR Scan our building's roofs. I suspect that you could do the same with this unit (minus the helicopter plus a ladder).
Great idea, attach your phone with this camera to a drone.. hmmm I do this often with my gopro max and my mavic pro..
I bought the "pro" model not the cheaper pro "LT" model on fleabay for 250 (IOS version for iphone).. It had a flaw and was not connecting.. I then bought another one and I was hoping to see where the studs were behind the sheet rock / wall.. I was unable to do that.. I thought the device was pretty darn neat but being that it could not see the studs behind the wall (was advertised that it could) in combination with the snafu of the first one I bought.. . I went ahead and returned it... did not quite meet expectations..
Was it just Sheetrock or was it a tiled/slab wall?
Was it just Sheetrock or was it a tiled/slab wall?
Just regular sheetrock nothing obstructing it.. im guessing it is no more than 1/2 thick..
Here is in interesting tidbit of trivia concerning that.. i ended up buying a cheap AGM thermal image viewer after returning the flir pro .. (advertised for distance wildlife viewing not inspection type applications) and it can see the studs through the sheetrock and wood paneling surprisingly well..
The Flir One Pro is $399 at flir.com. How did your 15% coupon reduce it to $255?
They used to have the micro-usb Pro version for $299.00
A few weeks ago.
Now they charge the same as the others but include an adaptor (usb-c).
$399.00
The price should go down pretty soon as other competitor start offering their own versions ( or flat out copies )
