Bought the beef bars from a previous deal. I was expecting something like beef jerky/steak/stick. Instead the texture was like a beef flavored protein bar which is off putting. Won't be buying these again.

Isn't this brand owned by Hormel now? Isn't that bad?
Bad ingredients:ENCAPSULATED (in hydrogenated oils)LACTIC ACID, CULTURED CELERY POWDER[which is very high in nitrates]. BTW, what does venison taste like? Are they raised on farms?

Completely agree.
I got beef and venison from the last deal too, and couldn't eat these.

Personally I like these but they are expensive at my local store. I appreciate this pricing and less than $1 per bar is a great deal for me with s&s.

Just received my S&S for the beef flavor. The texture from the first bites feel solid/hard, but it soon crumbles in your mouth very quickly. The taste however seems gamey to me. It was a bit surprising and off-putting to me. I hope the other flavors aren't gamey, otherwise I'll just finish them off and find something else to snack on.

Mine came to $14.28. Did you clip the 20% off box on the product page?

I got the venison ones from a deal a few weeks ago, not really what I expected. They didn't taste bad but the texture isn't like jerky. It's more of a ground and pressed meat/steak texture. Not bad if you want something other than a protein bar or low carb. Only 15g protein in the 43g serving. So depending on your needs you may be better off with a protein bar or shake.

Warning: Epic bars are SUPER salty. Like off-puttingly salty.

These are great for hiking and are usually $2.50+ locally.
I wouldn't eat them on a daily basis at home, but for backpacking, they fill you up give you energy and I much prefer them to the "vitamin-y" taste a lot of the other "bars" have. In for 2!
