thanks! i see the option to "upgrade" device but it does say for BYOD i need to call them. my q was more about whether it would be "safe" to do so. i take it that on metro its not easy to move around your sim. i thought the days of service tied to MEID were far behind us; but seems like metro is tying the sim to your imei.

to be clear, i'm not planning to even turn on the N10 that i will be retiring. it will just sit in the drawer for 6 months.
Moving sim was easy for me. Chat did not work as it was not a working day. Called and got it done without any extra $$$. Ymmv

Prepaid Metro is more complicated than postpaid Sprint.

To me the stylo cam was like yesteryears...

May be it's the app and not the actual photo itself

So which one did you get?
Neither one. Going to check out the Moto G Power as it gets good reviews. The Samsung Galaxy A20 (amoled screen) gets good reviews, but their demo model was not working. Friend has one and will take a look.

From a user with the unlocked version of N10: I'm getting 5g with visible (Verizon) on it right now. Had to change it to NR/LTE/TDSCDMA/CDMA/GSM/WCDMA in the network settings menu. *#*#4636#*#* Unfortunately it resets to 4g if I restart.

So definitely the N10's hardware supports 5g on other carriers beside T-mobile, at least for Verizon. I think oneplus may provide software update that will make the N10 working with 5g on other carriers without user hack.

Why is everyone so interested in waiting 6 mo for unlock?

1. are you trying to keep for another carrier?
2. Why? These are not great phones (N10 is decent). But...
3. You can sell them now (or after 30 days)
4. Take the $ and buy unlocked or better phone
5. They are T-Mobile / Metro exclulsive. - do they have the bands you need?
6. Why are these worth waiting 6 mo to possibly unlock?

... I suspect you need the newer FP numbers as the old legacy numbers are likely still considered VOIP numbers.
But since the newer numbers only give you something like 10 mins of talk per month, and then start charging you, you are likely to face monthly charges with those, right? In my general experience with robo calls to my phone line, robos will eat up the monthly minutes fast.

I went to an AD today, they didn't asked me how long I had the number. I bought the number on eBay, the PIN didn't match.
Did you contact ebay seller to confirm pin number ? Is AD lying to you about pin ?

I did, and he replied: "I'm not sure why that pin wasn't working. My guess is that when Xfinity gives a pin, it must only be good for a few days. They provided me the pin on 1/15."

Don't you select the PIN when you activate the line? I just ordered my own number on Xfinity, but need to wait for the SIM card to arrive.

Request your Xfinity Mobile Security PIN
When you contact your new carrier to transfer your number, they will ask for your Xfinity Mobile security PIN. Here's how to request your security PIN:
Log into your Xfinity Mobile account online and go to "Devices."
Select a phone number you want to transfer to a new carrier.
Scroll down the page and select "Transfer your number, cancel this line" for details on obtaining your secure PIN via text.

Hard to believe the PIN would expire after a few days.

xfinity pins do expire in a few days. cannot remember whether it was 5 days or 7. i think visible is the same. you have to generate the pin when you are ready to port. apparently a security feature

I bet the resale value will be low. It cost around $60 to have phone unlocked.. You can get unlocked N10 for $240 at bestbuy. SO if you spend $86 for two phones and $120 to unlock them that cost you $100 per phone I bet the most you can get is $200 per phone.

The core of the problem: Comcast doesn't protect its mobile accounts with a unique PIN. (Comcast's help site for switching carriers suggests this is to make things easier: "We don't require you to create an account PIN, so you don't need to provide that information to your new carrier.") The default it uses instead is.... 0000.

laugh out loud

And urlhasbeenblocked a 15% cut. Subtract $10 for shipping, and you made just $60 for all this trouble.
