Even more, all digital purchases outside the eshop are given gold points relative to their MSRP rather than their sale price because Nintendo cannot determine the actual price you paid for that digital key. So if given a choice between the eshop and another retailer, the other retailer will give more gold points.
For example let's say Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is on sale for $48 instead it's normal MSRP of 59.99. Gold points are awarded at a 5% point rate which means the full priced game is eligible for up to 300 Coins or $3 off your next eshop purchase.
However, purchasing MK8D from the eshop for the sale price of $48 will only provide you with 235 points ($48 x 5%) while a digital code purchased from from a third party retailer will award you the full 300 points because Nintendo can't tell how much you paid for the key and will default to assuming you paid the full price for it.
That being said, there's really only the rhythm game here. If all you care about is the rhythm game, this is fine, but there's really no other modes. The last Miku game I played was on the Vita, Project F I think it was called, and that had more than the rhythm game, which I was disappointed to see wasn't in this one.
Also, I didn't like the way "holds" were handled in this. As far as I can tell, there's no way to tell how long you're supposed to hold down a note, no visual indicator or anything.
I can't say it held my attention for long as a consequence. Hitting buttons to the music gets old fairly fast, even if there is a lot of it.
Bonuses to this game are that it has a Mix Mode with Joy Con motion controls, so you can physically move while doing the rhythm game. The "Standard" refers to the main game's 101 songs, and there's an additional 77 songs available as DLC. There's a demo available on the Eshop if you're not sure.
I liked the game. Not many rhythm games get localized in the US for Nintendo systems, so it was nice to get something after Project Mirai DX and Taiko no Tatsujin for Switch.
