Side viewing angle quality is a legitimate factor to take into account when getting a TV, especially a TV of this size since it would, ideally, be put into a large room. That space would most likely have seating that would be impacted by angles that are not straight on. The higher grade panels allow for the image to remain unchanged at the most extreme angles. The lower quality panels will quickly distort color and saturation as you move from the center viewing position. If you get the wrong panel for a space, it could make a big difference in the ability to enjoy an investment like this. He was trying to be helpful
