Nice alternative dock for switch. Great for travel and fairly well regarded as far as third party accessories go. Read about a lot of issues with third party Switch docks frying systems. This started as a kick starter campaign and I believe this is the cheapest price since the kick starter.

To get deal add to cart and use code "1-UP" for an extra 15% off. Should knock it down to $55.25 Now $59.50 with free shipping. I got this code by signing up for their email group (a pop up will ask for your email when you first visit the sit).

I do not believe this comes with HDMI cable just the USB-C cable to attach to switch, just the wall plug dock unit. You plug your Switch into the wall/plug unit and use the HDMI output to your screen. Excellent for travel or using on screens other than your main set-up.

This one is known to be one of the safe docks. And you are missing the point of this product. It is supposed to be travel friendly as opposed to carrying the bulky box around.
I think there has been known issues with 3rd party docks bricking the switch. The Genki one is suppose to be one of the safe 3rd party options. Although this price is still more than I'm willing to pay.
I got this dock last month and it works great. No problems so far!

will the hdmi output work with a switch lite?

No, switch lites are locked out of video/audio output via the USB-C port because the lite motherboard doesn't include the chip to do so. It's one of the ways they cut costs in manufacturing the lite and why lites don't work with switch docks.

I almost bought this then I remembered I backed their Shadowcast Kickstarter with the bundle that includes one of these.

Shadowcast is their branded HDMI/USB-C capture device.

An update can't cause issues though. The Switch dock is a dumb device, and there aren't firmware updates pushed to it. All the BS about updates causing issues are based on an "uptick" in the number of Switches fried by the Nyko dock when the Switch went to 5.0. That wasn't a change in the firmware about the way the docks worked, it was due to the Switch allowing downloads to be started while asleep. The Nyko dock cheaped out on it's PD chip, and went with one that emulated PD, and would push an out of spec voltage to the Switch, which now that the Switch was doing more in the background, saw even more Switches being fried by an already faulty device.

If you look up everything Genki found, the Switch is actually in spec in all but one way (the dock uses a slightly smaller connecter to make it easier to slide in and out). A PD compliant dock like Genkis will never brick the Switch unless damaged. The issue with cheap no name solutions is that some use out of PD compliance parts, which is always risky, no matter the device your plugging into it. The whole thing about the Switch not being PD compliant in it's charging standard was actually mostly FUD from early sleuths who didn't actually know what they were doing when they "tested" things out.

Sadly Nyko cheaping out on parts for their single rushed to market device has left the market forever misinformed, and Nintendo wanting to push first party solutions has never has reason to correct that missinformation.

Code also works for the bluetooth audio adaptors - which brings them cheaper (since free ship) than if you were getting them as an add-on via their current Kickstarter.

I got this dock when it was on kickstarter. It works great. They are also coming up with a way to stream the switch through a laptop monitor as well if you're traveling and want a bigger screen.

Same.

I use one of those usbC docking stations and I just use my laptop power supply to power it all. Like 15 bucks.

I would prefer this but I'm priced out unfortunately.
Which one are you using? Not all of them support the switch and output display via HDMI port on the dock

Honestly, I'm with you. The one in the OP may be considered one of the "safe ones" ... until Nintendo pushes a firmware update and it's not anymore. With this at $55, you're darn close to genuine Nintendo accessory price, so why risk it?

Edit: As for the above posts saying that's impossible, we thought the same thing until it wasn't. The PD chip may have been the issue before and next time it's something else. Who knows. But I ain't chancing it to save 10 bucks.
Because:

A) We "DO" know. We know exactly why the nyko dock was frying Switches, and exactly how the dock works. It won't be something else because that something else would brick swtiches on the official dock as well. Using any battery, charging cable, or charger outside the official would be just as "dangerous". No one ever thought that using cheap out of compliance parts providing more voltage then a chip can handle wouldn't damage the device. Those same parts used in a 3rd party charger would have fried your phone too. You might as well say no one should ever use any 3rd party accessory ever on any device, and that you can only use OEM phone chargers, or you can take the better lesson. When buying something that plugs into your device, by from a reputable brand.

B) The whole point of this dock isn't to save money. This is a travel dock, something you can toss in your bag instead of a charger with an HDMI cable so you can hook it up anywhere without bringing the much more cumbersome official dock with you which is prone to breaking in ways that can damage your Switch if your not careful when traveling.

I have this for my travels, and it works great. I previously used an official dock stuck into an aftermarket housing, but this takes up less space. In my already full bag.

There are lots of smaller plastic cases made to fit the dock hardware in them to make a much more portable docking solution. Way cheaper than this thing and you actually use Nintendo's hardware so no worries about compatibility issues. You only need to be mildly technically inclined to do it.

Thanks, I was using their current kickstarter as an opportunity to grab the dock and bluetooth adapter too, but I was baffled at the extra shipping per item. I'll just buy now instead of waiting.

If you read a lot you would know that Nintendo does not support unofficial 3rd party hardware & a simple firmware update will leave you with a useless dock. You would also know that the developers bringing Linux and Android to switch do not support 3rd party docks because they do NOT meet Nintendo standards. How do I know they do not meet Nintendo standards? Nintendo Switch USB C is not standard, no other device uses it, yet this dock says charge your phones with it lmfao no, the official Nintendo Switch hardware is not designed to charge phones because phones use USB standards and the Nintendo Switch does NOT, so tell us again how this is a good alternative
I charge my phone with my "official" switch charger everyday.

I ordered two of the bluetooth adaptors yesterday, and they've already been shipped! I'm pretty pleased.
