Doesn't appear you need the gmail trick either. Just put in a spam e-mail account, fill out what's required, hit sign up. Then hit the back button and submit again. The system doesn't seem to care about resubmitting the same e-mail over and over.

You'll need to wait for more workshops to open. I didn't have any issues when I registered for them back in October and November.

It'll probably harder now that other slickdealers might be signing up for workshops.
