Comment from the previous post for these have seemed to help some folks so here it is again. Hope this helps with some choices.
I have owned the JBL Link View, the JBL Link 300 (speaker), the Lenovo 8" Smart Display, Google Home, and Google Nest Hub.
Out of all of the Google Assistant displays, the JBL has the best sound quality, hands down. With the small subwoofer, it generates more bass than any other Google smart display.
If you want the display more for the digital photo aspect first and the sound second, I recommend the Google Nest Hub. Google did an amazing job with their adaptive displays and they easily beat out the glossy, computer screen look of the Lenovo and JBL displays. They can also be found for around half this price (on sale).
The Lenovo is still noteworthy and isn't bad at all. The speaker may even be better than the Google Nest Hub.
All of that being said, if you are only looking for a Google Assistant device and a good sounding speaker, the JBL Link 300 is an awesome option. It brings a significant amount of bass and produces clean sound even at high volumes. I have not noticed any difference in it's Google Assistant experience in comparison to any of my other Google branded Google Assistant devices. You can find them open-box or refurb on eBay for probably half this price and get two for what you would pay for one of these JBL displays. Two Link 300s would give you a formidable sounding speaker setup.
It is really all personal preference amongst these selections for Google Assistant devices. What you are looking for and how you listen to your media content can help dictate if you need/want a device with a screen or if you could save money on just a smart speaker
Not sure how long ago the $299 MSRP price was in effect but this is still about $10 less than other stores like Walmart.
Yes. Mine works reliably with the nest video doorbell.

They both run same OS. The JBL has a larger screen and camera for video chats. It also has a lot better sound quality. The screen quality is better on the Google however. If you plan to do a lot of viewing on these (I use a hub in my office to watch YouTube TV in a pinch) the larger screen size of the JBL comes in handy.

People are buying these for the Google assistance. As mention 4 times before you link these with a device that connects to a receiver and that jbl audio will never touch the audio on it. Once again for the 5th time if you are going on what the purpose to price these will really beat the jbl. Most people aren't planning on sitting in one spot and using these as tablets. These are being used as hubs for devices and voice prompt. If you are looking for something as a tabeli would completely avoid all the options here
Yes that's the Google hub. I own a few linked up with everything including my dolby surround and let's say i have my own voice command dj system at home. I have everything linked and integrated through my shield tv and pioneer sound system. Sounds amazing

I don't really understand why you're discouraging people from getting this, alone. When I first plugged the JBL in and heard just how much better the sound was, I felt it was worth more than a bathroom speaker and considered maybe even getting this second one for the living room (to replace or compliment the mini under the couch). But I reminded myself that I will someday, key word there, get a soundbar with a sub, maybe even 7.1, Dolby atmos and all that and will use that as the living room speaker, similar to what I think you're suggesting.
I didn't get the soundbar yet because I just dropped a bunch on a new TV (that doesn't NEED a soundbar yet) and I've been a bit excessive with my Google home spending, anyway. Spending another two to six hundred (or more??) on a decent soundbar isn't an immediate option. Also, I'm looking to connect my old DSLR to my TV to have Duo calls on the big screen. That'll take a little more money as well.
In the meantime, if I just wanted decent sound, anywhere in my place, that can connect to my other home devices, and make video calls, this is easily the best and cheapest bet, compared to the smaller Hub with no camera, the more expensive Hub Max, or a whole soundbar and the cost that includes.

I would stop trying to convince people to buy a glorified speaker on a crap tablet. But that's me. I'm not trying to knock anything but just inform others on what's the better pick. I'm sorry but that's all this is nothing more. If you are using it for the tablet get it but there's way better choices for the price for that purpose. Have a good day
Does this have a smart follow feature that the Nest Hub Max and the Facebook Portal have. I'd like to chat with family, but be able to roam around the room. Thanks.
I have lenova smart display 10 inch already, and like someone else mentioned, it have it in my office and mostly use it to listen to music from youtube. You cant play music from videos on any audio only home devices you need a youtube music premium subscription for that. Is the music quality better on this than the lenova 10 inch? I would be getting mostly for the audio quality. From all comments, it is clear audio is better than nest hub, how about lenova 10 inch smart display?
Is it close to the JBL link 300 audio quality. I have that, and it rocks.
"Do you concur?" - catch me if you can reference haha! 😂
I love it! I actually use that phrase a lot with my coworkers while chatting and I crack myself up all the time because I don't think they know my frame of reference for that. Side note, don't worry, I am not a doctor

That kinda killed it for me last time.
Now I have to decide b/w this and a $50 google hub
