Comment from the previous post for these have seemed to help some folks so here it is again. Hope this helps with some choices.
I have owned the JBL Link View, the JBL Link 300 (speaker), the Lenovo 8" Smart Display, Google Home, and Google Nest Hub.
Out of all of the Google Assistant displays, the JBL has the best sound quality, hands down. With the small subwoofer, it generates more bass than any other Google smart display.
If you want the display more for the digital photo aspect first and the sound second, I recommend the Google Nest Hub. Google did an amazing job with their adaptive displays and they easily beat out the glossy, computer screen look of the Lenovo and JBL displays. They can also be found for around half this price (on sale).
The Lenovo is still noteworthy and isn't bad at all. The speaker may even be better than the Google Nest Hub.
All of that being said, if you are only looking for a Google Assistant device and a good sounding speaker, the JBL Link 300 is an awesome option. It brings a significant amount of bass and produces clean sound even at high volumes. I have not noticed any difference in it's Google Assistant experience in comparison to any of my other Google branded Google Assistant devices. You can find them open-box or refurb on eBay for probably half this price and get two for what you would pay for one of these JBL displays. Two Link 300s would give you a formidable sounding speaker setup.
It is really all personal preference amongst these selections for Google Assistant devices. What you are looking for and how you listen to your media content can help dictate if you need/want a device with a screen or if you could save money on just a smart speaker
Not sure how long ago the $299 MSRP price was in effect but this is still about $10 less than other stores like Walmart.
Yes. Mine works reliably with the nest video doorbell.

I have lenova smart display 10 inch already, and like someone else mentioned, it have it in my office and mostly use it to listen to music from youtube. You cant play music from videos on any audio only home devices you need a youtube music premium subscription for that. Is the music quality better on this than the lenova 10 inch? I would be getting mostly for the audio quality. From all comments, it is clear audio is better than nest hub, how about lenova 10 inch smart display?

Is it close to the JBL link 300 audio quality. I have that, and it rocks.
Are you saying that you can't "cast" music to the device? What about Pandora?

Anyone have any experience with these. Was going for a $15 Google Home Mini. Wondering if this has any major advantages. Does the screen connect with video doorbells?

I have a Google Home Mini and it sucks. I don't care to elaborate. I just don't ever use it, because it sucks.

Not from YouTube to JBL link 300 or any audio only Google home devices. If you are on YouTube app on phone and want to cast only audio it won't even show audio only devices. It does show all display based devices like nest hub, lenova smart display etc. And nest hub audio quality is bad. So thinking of this. But you can stream or cast from Spotify Pandora kind of audio services to any of these devices audio or screen based

FWIW About 3 years ago I made the mistake and bought 3x JBL Playlist. They had been very lightly used and ALL 3 bit the dust within a 6 month range after the warranty expired. One is entirely dead, the other two are in some kind of a boot loop and briefly show up on the WLAN but seem to crash shortly after.

Never again will I buy anything JBL. Even though I have a soundbar from them that is older and still works just fine.

I would stop trying to convince people to buy a glorified speaker on a crap tablet. But that's me. I'm not trying to knock anything but just inform others on what's the better pick. I'm sorry but that's all this is nothing more. If you are using it for the tablet get it but there's way better choices for the price for that purpose. Have a good day

A "glorified speaker" that you can in a pinch cast a youtube video to while in the shower or even live TV news broadcast. Lot of better options out there for 80 bucks.

People are buying these for the Google assistance. As mention 4 times before you link these with a device that connects to a receiver and that jbl audio will never touch the audio on it. Once again for the 5th time if you are going on what the purpose to price these will really beat the jbl. Most people aren't planning on sitting in one spot and using these as tablets. These are being used as hubs for devices and voice prompt. If you are looking for something as a tabeli would completely avoid all the options here
Hard to determine what you're saying but I think I agree with some of it. These smart displays have their place on the kitchen counter but if you're after good sound quality and have the room hit up CL or other site for a good ole fashion receiver and speakers. There's some crazy good deals to be had out there on real stereo equipment.

People are comparing sound quality of the devices on their own. Yet you keep trying to remind people that you have them linked to your receiver and speakers and what not. Not everybody does that. Sometimes, people want better standalone sound without having to always leave the receiver on.

So obviously, to compare the two devices as standalone devices, the JBL has a camera for Duo AND sounds better than the Hub. It's up to the buyer to determine if it's worth the $30 premium over the Hub, if you can find that at your Walmart for $50.

Is the JBL being updated with all of the Google assistant/home functionality as the Google Nest Hub? This JBL device is over 2 years old now.

It think JBL is just blowing out all remaining inventory, and I doubt it will get many if any more software updates.

i just ordered one, there are only a few left guys. @fairchicken400 what's better than this jbl that has a screen and decent sound with nice bass for 80.00 or less. i have a full atmos home theater system, and google home nest hub in bedroom? currently using an insignia smart clock google speaker in bathroom, I wanted something with a little more bass while i shower and get my groove on. i was looking at the google home nest hub max but price still too high and maybe a little too big for bathroom, this jbl seems to hit a nice sweet spot for the money.

Sorry. My response was sarcasm. A shower speaker/youtube player is a great use case for this. I should buy another for my office to replace my smaller hub. The larger screen is nice when I am watching the news while working.
