Apple iPhone XS models (including large capacities and Max variants) are all $199 in-store at Walmart as of this weekend. Definitely a YMMV since these are not showing up in online inventories.

NOTE: Brickseek is showing "NO RESULTS" and Walmart.com is saying "Out of stock" for all SKUs (I checked them all). However, all 4 of the stores I checked in-person did have inventory. This seems very unusual, but I purchased a 256GB XS Max for $199 this afternoon at a store in my area so there are some models out there.

Walmart listing (shows no inventory; see note above) https://www.walmart.com/ip/Apple-.../109707311

No contract/commitment required, but I believe these are only setup to work only with AT&T. I have AT&T so I haven't explored this further.

Clarification: No AT&T account info was needed to checkout. I just asked for the phone at the electronics counter, paid the total, and walked out. I charged the phone, swapped the SIM from my existing phone, and was up and running.

Just FYI, I received a call from Walmart to confirm my reservation for an Iphone XS they have in store. The guy I talked with was really nice and he confirmed I could purchase without phone plan or contract. I will go get it at noon today. That's awesome!

When did you make reservation?

I purchased four 256gb "Verizon" models. All four appear to be factory sealed and brand new. However, an IMEI check I bought for one shows that it's locked. I'm keeping one, so I bought IMEI reports of the other two as well. Anybody have anything similar happen? Anything I can do to unlock the device at this point?

Is it possible that even though a location says there are none available for reservation on the website that they still have inventory?
Anyone have any idea on this?

Thanks

Another user said that those are probably unlocked version's but not postpaid (but full price and no contract) and that's why they were coming up that price.

Which got me confused.
Yea, from what other employees told me previously, the only unlocked iPhones Walmart sell are the iPhone SE.

Yea, I went to a store 5 mins from my house yesterday that did not show up on the reservation system. Ended up with a XS 256gb and 3 XS Max, all silver color so I would go in and check if you have a Walmart nearby. One already a birthday gift, and the others are on the gifting lists too Applause

I was able to reserve one IPhone Xs Max in a Walmart nearby, which was nowhere to be found, even though it showed up as in stock on the reservation page. We did look into all of their drawers, and it just wasn't there. But they did have one IPhone Xs 64gb, which I ended up getting without much of a hassle. It was one of the store managers of Walmart which went through warp with me to print out the "device only"-barcode. I just got really lucky, that it went so smoothly. I did point out the sign someone mentioned here, and also showed them my reservation email.

If your store is serviced by T-ROC, you would need to reach out to T-ROC, but that is needed for buying postpaid phones with service activation only, where the T-ROC employee would need to enter their ID onto the WARP for service activation. For buying postpaid phones outright without service activation, any Walmart employee can sell them to you by choosing device only on the WARP. I have posted the instructions for WARP on the wiki of this thread.

Since the stock is limited, if you really need one or two for personal use, just buy whatever are available at your store with no service activation regardless of carrier. These iPhones are either factory unlocked or with US Reseller Flex Policy that will lock to the first US carrier inserted SIM, so just buy any you could find first with no service activation regardless of carrier and then buy the full Apple GSX report on eBay for $1 to find out the activation policy and sim-lock status.

You may also check the sim-lock status for free at sickw.com by choosing FREE - APPLE BASIC INFO.

If you need further help, reply back and post the full Apple GSX report here, including the part number MTxxxLL/A found on the box. Good luck to all, and please be nice to each other. We are here to help each other. hug
After we buy the full GSX report, how do we verify that it is Reseller Flex locked specifically? My report shows locked, but I don't see the specifics of the lock anywhere. Thanks in advance!

What's the best reputable eBay seller for GSX info?

Also, these phones are pretty old, and coverage is showed as expired. If I contact Apple, can this be remedied, since they were just purchased?

I did manage to make one mistake. I popped in my Mint Mobile Sim, which is T-Mobile network based. Now it is locked to T-Mobile. I've read for hours about this US Reseller Flex Policy, just to find out that it's basically locked forever now, because imei isn't registered in the system of T-Mobile. So, they won't help you about it. I felt really dissapointed first, but have accepted my fate now. The specs are too good to pass on, and I was looking for a new main phone, after my old one started to fall into two pieces.

Contact apple support, upload proof of purchase, they can change that to the correct purchase date.

You got a phone that was activated at one time. Was it completely sealed?

Anyone know if a phone now locked to verizon for 60 days, does it need to be powered on that whole time, or can I keep it in a drawer and on day 61 it should power on and accept a T-Mobile sim?

What online system is everyone using to reserve these? The walmart landing page shows sold out to me for all the phones. What is the WARP reservation link?

I am just going off info in the free check on sickw.com, which lists an "estimated purchase date." Although I will say, some of the phones I bought did not have plastic on them or the plastic was ripped.
