Apple iPhone XS models (including large capacities and Max variants) are all $199 in-store at Walmart as of this weekend. Definitely a YMMV since these are not showing up in online inventories.

NOTE: Brickseek is showing "NO RESULTS" and Walmart.com is saying "Out of stock" for all SKUs (I checked them all). However, all 4 of the stores I checked in-person did have inventory. This seems very unusual, but I purchased a 256GB XS Max for $199 this afternoon at a store in my area so there are some models out there.

Walmart listing (shows no inventory; see note above) https://www.walmart.com/ip/Apple-.../109707311

No contract/commitment required, but I believe these are only setup to work only with AT&T. I have AT&T so I haven't explored this further.

Clarification: No AT&T account info was needed to checkout. I just asked for the phone at the electronics counter, paid the total, and walked out. I charged the phone, swapped the SIM from my existing phone, and was up and running.

Fighting with the cell phone guy now. Manager just told him to walk away.

The guy says "I don't care what the sign says I won't sell you a phone without a financed contract."

Manager selling me 2 phones now.
Walmart won't risk not to sell the phone. But the wireless guy don't care as they technically aren't employed by Walmart. So good move by reaching out to the manager.

I returned the favor by buying the protection plans.
You do understand that most credit cards double the Apple warranty for free and the Chase Freedom Flex card even gives you screen protection for free!

Meaning they sold it to you or not?
I reserved 4. However only 2 were here available. No one knew what the hell I was talking about. The cell guy said the phones were 249. Proved him wrong twice

I think once you get the second email I believe the phone is unlocked and ready to accept any sim card. So no, it is not locked to tmobile, but you will be able to use it on tmobile, Verizon, or another carrier.
Got it, thanks!

How did you 'prove him wrong?' You just had him ring you up and the price was $199, right? Also, he didn't try to force you into a contract? THanks!

Reminder for those going to store and have an idiot working the WARP system to get an unlocked phone without activation.

First!!!! Verify phone is $99 or $199 via Walmart inventory, not warp system pricing. Walmart associate should scan phone in their inventory reader.

Verify WARP 2.0 system

On computer choose:
New customer/order>>
Choose Verizon (you need a provider so choose Verizon or att. Not sprint. Don't worry. You are only activating the phone to use NOT getting service!!)>>
Pay device in full option>>
Follow prompts>>enter store zip code>>follow prompts.

Pos print off sheet will print out. Pay for phone and taxes. Keep copy of pos sheet

Hope this helps.

You do NOT need a cell phone person (Walmart provider) to do this. Any electronics Walmart person can do this.

Good luck

I don't think any of the credit cards I have doubles Apple warranty. And I have several including the Chase Sapphire Reserve.

In either case, they didn't give me a hard time with the device only purchase (no upgrade or activation hassle) and they also didn't try and screw me. So me buying the extended warranty is a win-win for both of us.

You actually picked them up? Were you forced into new service?

With in regards to what you said last.

With my experience yesterday. I got employees /managers involved and even OSL on the phone and it couldn't be done without OSL credentials.

When they tried ringing it up on WARP each time they tried to proceed with the purchase it wouldn't allow them to finalize the order.

They wanted to sell me the phones but said I would have to come back when OSL is here.

This is wrong. A manager was able to print a device-only barcode and scan it with no issue.

This is all extremely YMMV.

Depends on the manager if they have any experience on warp.

I spoke to a number of people who were genuinely trying to help me and not one of them was familiar with WARP to ring me up.

They tried.

Your store might be different.
