Apple iPhone XS models (including large capacities and Max variants) are all $199 in-store at Walmart as of this weekend. Definitely a YMMV since these are not showing up in online inventories.

NOTE: Brickseek is showing "NO RESULTS" and Walmart.com is saying "Out of stock" for all SKUs (I checked them all). However, all 4 of the stores I checked in-person did have inventory. This seems very unusual, but I purchased a 256GB XS Max for $199 this afternoon at a store in my area so there are some models out there.

Walmart listing (shows no inventory; see note above) https://www.walmart.com/ip/Apple-.../109707311

No contract/commitment required, but I believe these are only setup to work only with AT&T. I have AT&T so I haven't explored this further.

Clarification: No AT&T account info was needed to checkout. I just asked for the phone at the electronics counter, paid the total, and walked out. I charged the phone, swapped the SIM from my existing phone, and was up and running.

Well after speaking with the manager, who from the way she spoke, you would think Troc ran Walmart. She wouldn't budge. So I contact corporate and customer service. Here is when it gets ridiculous, they said they would transfer my call to the correct Dept. She transferred me to a PHONE SEX LINE! I'm not even joking, the call picked up on hold and asked for my cc# for some more steamy conversation. All this after I had to wait 30 minutes for my online order because they lost it. I'm done for the day. At home drinking a margarita after all this. Lol
getting trolled by Walmart

Not worth it imo.. After many years on SD I learned to always ignore Walmart deals..

Does anyone know the phone activation procedure at Walmart? I'm on a Verizon a family plan, and I know at Target usually only the account owner can make changes (add lines, upgades, etc.) to the account.

My wife called several stores in the North Dallas suburbs and all were sold out. I wish I had seen this deal sooner.
I checked like 200 miles of my footprint...all wiped out

Several Walmarts in my area in Miami have them in stock. However, they refuse to sell. I was redirected to T-ROC area management and apparently Miami's a hot zone for cell phone fraud (not surprised). So, in an attempt to fight fraud, T-ROC can't sell phones outright in Miami...Bummer.

Inquired in-store about any deals this weekend (was thinking about going with a 12 Pro Max) and the associate mentioned that all XS moved to clearance this weekend.

I guess that is why they still have stock.

If your store is serviced by T-ROC, you would need to reach out to T-ROC, but that is needed for buying postpaid phones with service activation only, where the T-ROC employee would need to enter their ID onto the WARP for service activation. For buying postpaid phones outright without service activation, any Walmart employee can sell them to you by choosing device only on the WARP. I have posted the instructions for WARP on the wiki of this thread.
Thanks, I guess the only hope is that the store Mgr overrides T-Roc with their BS requirements.

Lucky you didn't see sooner since that's the #1 violation of SD Frown

WALMART posts these YMMV B&M deals, only to attract you to shop there. Because if you can't find things you need, you are going to buy something anyways. It is their gimmick.

Had the same experience, they said they don't sell phones without new contracts.

Yes, I'm sure a multibillion dollar company uses these clearance "deals" as a marketing strategy to attract some of the most frugal/ stingy clientele. They created this account 8 years ago just so one day they could post clearance iphone X's to get more foot traffic.

Reserved one phone this morning. When I showed up the guy had my reservation - couldn't find the exact phone but lined up 4 others. Chose one, and he wouldn't sell it to me. Typical activation nonsense. Wouldn't budge, didn't care. Very pleasant overall, but wouldn't even attempt find a way to sell without activation. I figured there was at least an 80% chance of failure with these people, so I didn't push it. Honestly not worth the effort.

Ever hear of psychological conditioning? This is precisely how big business sales think.
