Apple iPhone XS models (including large capacities and Max variants) are all $199 in-store at Walmart as of this weekend. Definitely a YMMV since these are not showing up in online inventories.

NOTE: Brickseek is showing "NO RESULTS" and Walmart.com is saying "Out of stock" for all SKUs (I checked them all). However, all 4 of the stores I checked in-person did have inventory. This seems very unusual, but I purchased a 256GB XS Max for $199 this afternoon at a store in my area so there are some models out there.

Walmart listing (shows no inventory; see note above) https://www.walmart.com/ip/Apple-.../109707311

No contract/commitment required, but I believe these are only setup to work only with AT&T. I have AT&T so I haven't explored this further.

Clarification: No AT&T account info was needed to checkout. I just asked for the phone at the electronics counter, paid the total, and walked out. I charged the phone, swapped the SIM from my existing phone, and was up and running.

Scored one - Thanks OP! After visiting one Walmart with none available I went back online and noticed a small link on the top of the page to find in store. I found and reserved one XS Max 64GB at another Walmart and headed over. After I made the reservation I thought about adding another but it was listed as unavailable so I think it was the last one. Went to the electronics area and asked if they had any XS Max phones before telling them about my reservation. The employee said that they had XS Max 64GB silver but Walmart contracted with a company and could not sell it without a plan. I pointed to the sign referenced in this thread about being paid in full and the employee acknowledged and said he had to call the manager. Was expecting an argument but the manager said to just sell it to me. No WARP system, just rang it up at $199 plus tax. They said they did not want/need my reservation number so as others have mentioned reservations are useless. I have activated and confirm it is not carrier locked - it says in settings "No SIM restrictions". Note that it does list "Coverage Expired" in settings so I will have to call Apple support to give them the correct purchase date and proof. I am positive it was new as the plastic was still on the box.
don't forget to give the thread a thumbs up to show you gratitude.

So will both the Sprint versions of Xs and Xs Max work on T-mobile?

Also, do they insist on booting on the Sprint SIM in the store? Would that kill my odds of running on T-mobile if they did?
O'brother. the challenge right now is finding a phone that isn't sold out. You can work out the kinks later.

You must have very low technology standards for 2021! Haha
Lol tell me about that please, I am developing app for iOS too and the xs max has served me well until I got my 12 pro max in Octorber 😅

give the dude a thumbs up for this thread. It should be frontpage but dealers gave him 177 downvotes so they can corner supply.

Also, there are 45 pages in this thread and slickdeals hasn't made it frontpage. Go figure!
I repped the OP. The thumbs down tactic has been used forever and I understand why. Slickdeals is smart to not make it a frontpage deal. I didn't thumbs up or down. This is the kind of deal that doesn't need a lot of attention

Oh so you just haven't experienced a good phone... Makes sense. I use ios and Android both every day and the only thing apple is better at is marketing and tending to their sheep 😂

I was wondering why their prices cratered online. Nobody wants a (formerly) $1,000 phone that can't get a cellular signal when a $150 Android can. Qualcomm > Intel.
Major carriers have had trading promotion what they considered the trading price of xs max is the same as iphone 11 pro max.

EVEN If Apple phones are overpriced (which they are), getting the ones in this threda for $199 make it a steal! Imagine a 512GB iphone XS Max for $199. When it came out it was $1,499. Even after accounting for depreciation, a brand new 6.5 inch phone with 100% battery is worth a whole lot more than $199.

Did they let you get the phone for $99 / $199 by signing up for ATT, but you somehow 'signed up' without a contract? Does that mean you had no credit check either? I wouldn't be opposed to getting service for a month, but I"m not going to take a hard inquiry to get a discounted 3-year-old-phone. THanks!
They haven't yet.

I had the store manager call me to tell me they can sell me the phone BUT it has to be activated in the store.

I do have a ATT account that I can use. So a credit check wouldn't apply to me.

ATT post paid can cancel within 3 days without any fee's.

The electronics manager gave a shout out to Slick Deals and said stop believing everything you read.

No my friend you and OSL are just clearly refusing to sell me a phone. The proof is in the print.

I haven't owned an iPhone simply because of the price and performance ratio I could compare with android phones. But if I could get a 512GB one at $199, that is a no-brainer.

Can you give us the print so we can use that as proof when going to Walmart?

So what are you waiting for? If you ever needed an excuse to switch from android to Apple, this is it!
