Apple iPhone XS models (including large capacities and Max variants) are all $199 in-store at Walmart as of this weekend. Definitely a YMMV since these are not showing up in online inventories.

NOTE: Brickseek is showing "NO RESULTS" and Walmart.com is saying "Out of stock" for all SKUs (I checked them all). However, all 4 of the stores I checked in-person did have inventory. This seems very unusual, but I purchased a 256GB XS Max for $199 this afternoon at a store in my area so there are some models out there.

Walmart listing (shows no inventory; see note above) https://www.walmart.com/ip/Apple-.../109707311

No contract/commitment required, but I believe these are only setup to work only with AT&T. I have AT&T so I haven't explored this further.

Clarification: No AT&T account info was needed to checkout. I just asked for the phone at the electronics counter, paid the total, and walked out. I charged the phone, swapped the SIM from my existing phone, and was up and running.

They have the phone but they want you to sign up for the service. How do you get around this?

No credit pull since you are buying the phone outright.

there is NO reason to not get a 100% brand new $1,499 phone (when originally released) for $199 now
It was $1,250 originally for the 256GB. The 512GB was $1,449 when they came out.

1. see the first paragraph in the wiki for WARP
2. Look at the last 5 pages of this thread and you will find the exact language from Walmart regarding the conditions of sale which you can print and show as proof that they can't give you BS.

Here's my story. Saw this post early in the morning. Went to WM website and reserved two XS Max 64 GB. Received email and I arrived WM at 9:30 AM. Electronics people really nice, but told me they had never heard of reserving a phone, plus they could not do anything without 3rd party wireless person present and he was not scheduled in until 1:00 PM. I gave them my number and asked him to call me when he arrives. 3:00 PM rolls around and no call, so I call the WM and get wireless guy. He said he has been trying to figure out how to do the transaction for device only, but is stumped. Said he would try a manager two levels up and see what he can do to help. Fifteen minutes later he calls me back and tells me my phones are ready to be purchased. I hurry down and the wireless guy looks like Shaggy from Scooby Doo, plus has the same laid back personality. He said "man this is a good deal" and I told him I agreed. I mentioned I should have purchased more for family members. He said He had five of the XS Max and six of the XS if I wanted more. I told him to give me all of the XS Max models.

Now this is where things got weird. In order for him to key the phones up in the register, a store manager had to do some sort of override. The first manager did not have the turn key and then two more managers showed up at the same time. Each phone had to have the price override, one at a time. When the first phone rang up $199.99 the manager said that can't be correct. The wireless guy said something about it is correct and started to do a second phone. Now the electronics crew (4 of them) took and interest in the transaction. Everyone was saying they had never seen phones purchased without a new contract. They were looking at me while wireless dude just kept ringing up my purchase. Another manager said this is just not correct, and wireless buddy shook his head and continued on. One of the electronics folks said they wanted one at that price. Mr. Wireless told her I had purchased all of the Max version, but he could sell her a regular version. She looked at me like I told her to drop dead.

I really thought this deal would fall through before t finally purchased the phones. I have 5 new iPhone XS MAX setting on my table. I am going to share them with my family and a couple friends. TY OP for posting the deal.

I was $50 off when I said $1,499 rather than $1,449. But once you factor taxes, you can say I could be forgiven, no?

I have one 64 Max and another 256 Max. The 64 shows as fully unlocked on sickw while the 256 shows as under flex reseller policy. I plan to use on ATT so if I put an ATT sim in the 256 that locks it to ATT, I can still request the unlock? It would be nice to have it unlocked whenever I decide to upgrade in the next year or two.

This deal scored you at least $2,000 net benefit. Nice of you to share this bounty with family and friends. Give the thread a thumbs up for the sake of the OP.

and I was wildly guessing when I said $1,499. Glad I wasn't off by more than just $50!

Just picked up two using online reservation. Took about 45 minutes between locating them and figuring out how to check me out, but got them.
How do you reserve them
