The manager DID NOT lock out the device only option.
There is NO LIMIT on quantity that is officially set and the system does not limit, other than two WARP phones per transaction. You can purchase those 2x barcodes from WARP all on one checkout transaction at the actual register if you want.
Some employees can and will do the WARP process, many stores are removing the third party companies.
My experience
Store 1: 2x XS Max 64GB open box, but new and plastic on phones, unactivated. OSL employee processed with WARP as new customer, Verizon, Device only
Store 2: 3x new XS Max 64GB, sealed. Electronics employee processed reservation via WARP same as above.
Store 3: 4x new XS Max 64GB + 2x XS 256GB, sealed. Electronics employee same as above.
*Store 2 had trouble around lunch time because their terminal was hanging and flickering. They took my info, said the phones were set back not for sale and they would call me when the system was back online. They actually called me while I was at store 3 a few hours later to let me know I could come purchase, which I did.
As you can see, there are no official limits per customer in the system and I purchased no plans or lines. Yes, I have 11 phones, but I did quite a bit of legwork to figure it all out along with help from this thread. Some will be used to subsidize the rest, but family will be getting upgrades as well.
I lucked into some really good and willing to try/helpful employees at two of the stores, which is definitely a rarity. I was calm, friendly and confident that I knew what the process was.
Bought (5) XS Max 64gb at $199 and (1) X 256gb at $99 all from the same store. Didn't activate to or sign up for any carrier but told them AT&T because they said they had to put something in for the carrier.
I have Mint Mobile. From what I'm gathering, if I put in a Mint SIM card I'm now locked to mint? Or do I have to insert an AT&T SIM and then go through the unlock process first? Or am I in the clear to sell off the extras that family members don't claim as "unlocked?"
