Apple iPhone XS models (including large capacities and Max variants) are all $199 in-store at Walmart as of this weekend. Definitely a YMMV since these are not showing up in online inventories.

NOTE: Brickseek is showing "NO RESULTS" and Walmart.com is saying "Out of stock" for all SKUs (I checked them all). However, all 4 of the stores I checked in-person did have inventory. This seems very unusual, but I purchased a 256GB XS Max for $199 this afternoon at a store in my area so there are some models out there.

Walmart listing (shows no inventory; see note above) https://www.walmart.com/ip/Apple-.../109707311

No contract/commitment required, but I believe these are only setup to work only with AT&T. I have AT&T so I haven't explored this further.

Clarification: No AT&T account info was needed to checkout. I just asked for the phone at the electronics counter, paid the total, and walked out. I charged the phone, swapped the SIM from my existing phone, and was up and running.

This is great! Is there a separate link for the XS Max? This only seems to be XS

Looks like they finally took out the reservation portal from the website. I can no longer get to the page where I can enter in a zip. Maybe stock exhaustion?
Still works for me

I reserved an iphone XS 64 GB (Verizon) and went to the store and picked it up just now. The walmart associate was very helpful and had no issue ringing it up via WARP. I also bought the extended warranty for $22. I did not have to activate or anything else.

Questions: Do I still need to worry about the phone being locked if I just put a different SIM when I boot it up? Does it matter that I bought the "Verizon" model but want to use a T-Mobile SIM? Did any of the rest of you buy the warranty?

Best YMMV ever! Picked up 4 more XS Max's yesterday. 3 256GB and 1 64. Have reservations for 12 more at 3 stores for pick up today.
Damn I'd hate to see your cell phone bill. Seen a few already show up on Swappa

I have a family plan contract so I'm hoping it will still work. All you did was insert the SIM card and nothing else?

Bought mine today after traveling to one Walmart 50 minutes away who wouldn't sell, finally found one that would sell to me an hour away. Had to convince them that they could sell to me through WARP without a contract.

Left a few in stock in the South Haven, MI Walmart. Bought two for myself (both Max, one 64gb and the last 256) and a friend, and helped another person buy theirs while i was there. So if you're in West MI, I would call the store and try them. Probably your best bet. I don't know exactly how much stock they have, but when I asked the lady if they had more after I bought my first one she kinda chuckled and said "ohh yeah we have more!"

People who bought - how long did the phone take to boot up? Mine has been plugged in for a few minutes, getting kinda worried it may have some issues...

Can anyone confirm, if you bought these without putting information in, are they unlocked, or are they tied to a network. The rep just rung me up without any questions. I'm using sprint (unlocked phone).

I might give this a try as I have one more reservation to check tonight for the model I've been trying to get, but it's a little further away, so it would be nice to know if it's even worth the trip.
I was able reserve 6 phones. I got there. They only had 1 available. So I think at this point, it's a hit or miss.

Had a reservation and Walmart rep at electrics told me to come back tomorrow as there should be someone from a 3rd party company to sell phone. No idea how to convince him to help for my reservation.

My store would not sell one without activating on ATT. Otherwise the outright purchase is $499. Waste of time.
Same. Wasted a lot of time driving to Walmarts where no TROC rep was on duty. Then, finally visited 2 stores that had TROC reps but neither would sell the device without signing up for a plan. In my case it was all a big waste of time. I need to stop trying to take advantage of Walmart deals posted to Slickdeals. Not worth the wasted time lately. I got good deals about 1.5+ years ago.
