I got another puzzle from this brand a couple months ago and it's really helped keep my dog on her toes (sometimes she's too clever for her own good) and makes treats last longer. She did figure out the other puzzle and it's starting to get too easy for her, so happy to pick this one up at this price too. Thanks, OP!
I would recommend the Squirrel Buddy. It's almost indestructible and has 3 rubber prongs over the treat opening you can choose trim or entirely snip off (I recommend not snipping off more than 1 or the treats just fall out). I use popcorn, liver treats, and/or peanut butter inside.

Also try the Snoop with the nook. The snoop has a "neck" that folds in on itself to create difficulty in getting the treat out. The Nook insert adds another level of difficulty.

These seem like a solution to a first world problem. Imagine somebody trying to put food on the table watching Americans spend resources manufacturing and buying this stuff. I have an 💡, since these are "supervision required" games, how about teaching your dog a new word with a new behavior with that time of yours. It's free and it gets you off the sofa, not to mention it builds your bond and will make you and your pup happier than this plastic thing.

Just putting that out there -- from an urban disaster search dog trainer.

If your that sour about this product then why even click on it? Why put out so much negativity in the comments section of a dog toy? Keep in mind that your job is a solution to first world problems. It's not alway about being lazy. Many people are working from home now and would like to keep their dog busy while on a conference call for example.

Sounds like you should attend the same party.

It's called a crate.

I clicked because of toy. This is far from a typical toy and to me is a waste of time. My dog would look at this and go wtf. Some feel the same and all opinions can be voiced here. If you work from home and have a young dog, crate. It's not cruel. If you lack room, you lack common sense and shouldn't have a dog, imo.

This one was tough for both of my dogs (7 year old Australian cattle dog, and 1 year old border collie/cattle dog cross). The handles on the outside are difficult for the dog to grab and pull outward without lifting or tilting the entire puzzle such that numerous adjacent compartment covers open without the latches being pulled. The friction resistance is too much for it to be opened simply with the nose like most of these types of puzzles.

I found a solution for my dogs where I cut up a sock into strips of fabric and tied a strip to each of the latch handles. The strips are much easier for the dogs to grab and pull on to unlock the compartments.

Here's a picture, maybe it will be helpful to anyone who buys this and experiences the same difficulty: https://i.imgur.com/d5WuVYU.jpg

Purchased this one for my 1 y/o German Pointer. She had trouble with the locks on the doors at first so I only locked a few. Today I put her kibble in and locked all of them and when I went to check on her 15 minutes later she'd gotten them all out somehow. Definitely slows down her eating and fits a good bit of kibble in each compartment. If you have a dangerously voracious eater this might be a good solution for you.

So you felt the need to post because your dog is too stupid to figure out how to get a treat out of a puzzle? Cool story!

My dog doesn't waste time on monotonous Pavlovian bs. Your assumptions make you look like an a$$. Congrats DF.

I bought this because the reviews said it took a long time, possibly hours for dogs to figure it out.

When our Australian Shepherd as a puppy got it, it took her 5 minutes to get all of the treats on the first try. Then it took her about 2 minutes the next time.

In a week, she figured out it was just easier to pull off the tabs and took about a minute and she started damaging it. It was fun while it lasted.

Thanks, I was thinking of tying some rope like that too, the handles have been hard for my dog to figure out

My dog has a bunch of these - this one in particular she just cannot do. She can't figure out that the white loops lock the treat doors. It's super difficult, even for dogs good at these puzzles.

My Doberman and I do scent work, mental stimulation games, and service dog training ALL THROUGHOUT THE DAY. He doesn't like toys like stuffed animals or chews that aren't edible (if he can't eat it and if it doesn't give food, it's pointless to him) so I'm constantly having to come up with ways to stimulate him. We also walk 4-6 miles a day. I absolutely don't mind doing things with him (obviously) but I do need time to myself and time to do work so we can, you know, have money to eat and pay for a place to live. I usually make my own food toys with repurposed items instead of spending money on things like this but when a deal comes up, I'm willing to try it. I don't care if you have a different opinion; it's your assumption and way of putting down others with your opinion that is ignorant and problematic.

I've been wanting to try these puzzle games for my dog (adult Doberman) for a while but didn't want to pay full price when I can do other things with him. I bought it with this sale and was very excited to see what he thought. His method is brute force. He bashes it, flips it, rips off the flaps, whatever it takes to get the food. The flaps pop back in so they're not broken. He sometimes manages to get them open without even unlocking them, which is a small design flaw. So this doesn't really last long but is a good toy to add to our rotation. It's really sturdy against his abuse overall.

That said, when I adopted him last February, I don't think he would've figured it out. I've worked with him on a lot of different things and it's amazing how far he's come. He had the worst attention span, drive, and focus. His previous owner(s) obviously didn't do much with him. Now he likes to use that drive and focus against me 😅

Thought I was reading Youtube comments for a second then I realized I was still on slickdeals shopping for puppy toys, had a nice laugh, though.
