The intel MacBook pros have generally lasted for many years and run like new. While the M1 seems pretty great, the one thing we don't know is longevity

The M1 MacBooks will last longer due to lower heat produced by the processor day in and day out.

Definitely possible, but it is gen 1, only time will tell.

People are not correct saying the m1 is a gen 1 processor. Apple has been producing processors since the A6 in 2012. They have been proven to be reliable and great performers over almost ten years.

I am over the fence for M1-chip Macbooks, because it does not support a couple of softwares I need to run on Macbook. That made me lean towards an Intel chip macbook. Thoughts?

Which software? Shouldn't it run under Rosetta?

Does my library of steam games run smoothly under M1? I play mostly old games such as age of nations, civilization, homm; not the latest AAA 3D eye candies.

Rosetta is an emulation layer, even if it'll run, it won't necessarily run well (will arguably run worse)
