Microsoft has recently announced that the price of Xbox Live Gold is going up. The $60 1 year membership will now be $60 for a 6 month membership. If you are subscribed at the current rate they will honor a renew at your old price.

Retailers are now carrying the new $60 6 month cards. You can get ahead by stocking up on the old cards at their original price points being the price hike. This will make the gamepass trick more expensive too at the new price points, so now is the time.

I've provided a few good prices below. Take advantage while you can.

Costco: 2 years for $95.00

Target: 1 year for $59.99

Amazon: 1 year for $59.99

Welp, going to PC when mine expires! Most games are becoming cross platform & cross progression! 🤷🏻 ♂️🤦🏻 ♂️

This is crazy! Especially considering speculation that gold would go free. They are trying to push everyone to game pass and off gold.

Watch PS cut this real deep and include EA play in the future or a price slash. Say what u want but it cost me 60$ in total for a year of ps plus and ps now.

The price of a 1-month Gold membership is increasing $1 USD and the price of a 3-month membership is increasing $5 USD or the equivalent amount in your local market.

This still is not a good price. You can get 12 months via CDKeys right now for like $42 with a VPN.

Nothing like driving your customers away to the Playstation or PC.
Absolutely. And this is coming from an Xbox fan. This is so disappointing.

I think I'm just going to wait for the 3060 laptops and call it a day, forget the series X. Yes I know the multiplayer is much better on Console but if this is the way they're going about it I can't support it. I just can't be that much of a sheep I can't.

edit: it sounds like from the blog post they're giving us 45 days to get on board or g f t o. damn. might have to bite the bullet. wow

Anyone know if this still converts to Game Pass Ultimate? Last time I added a year of Gold it converted to 4 months (or something like) of GPU.

I can't get the costco 2 year to work. The order keeps getting cancelled. Frown. Tried from two different costco accounts/cards.
Costco worked for me. Just picked up the two years and received code.

MANY, have said that Microsoft should get rid of the fees for live, even many saying they were going to get rid of it. Only for Microsoft to do the opposite and jack up prices.

It's the same that they did with the buggy dvr function on the xbox. Many wanted them to increase the Dvr length, but no, instead Microsoft cut the record length in half for their Series S/X consoles.

Thanks! Seems it's a better deal then. So curious why some people prefer to stay with Gold than migrate to GPU? Again, just for my education, nonjudgmental
Some people only buy 1-2 games a year and play them w/ online multiplayer. If you don't care to play a variety of games, Game Pass doesn't make sense.

$120 for a year for XBOX Live Gold vs $30 for a year of PS PLUS. Not a smart move Microsoft...

So glad I walked away from gaming 2 years ago, for the off chance I want to play games I just use a PC now. Gaming has become such a shameless money grab lately.
Respectfully, I couldn't disagree more. As a PC owner and new PS5/Xbox owner, I find myself playing on console way more now. The free Classics Collection on PS5 will keep me occupied for the next year or two. The GamePass Ultimate library will keep me playing on Xbox for... ever? $30 for a year of PS Plus and $60 for a year of GamePass Ultimate (or $120/year for each if you have to pay retail) is better than any Steam / Epic collection I can put together for that price on PC.

I would say I used to agree with your stance on PC vs console, but I don't think that argument holds water right now. Oh, and plus GamePass Ultimate gives me free games on my PC - I'm currently playing MS Flight Simulator and Crusader Kings 3 on my computer, with Control, A Plague Tale, and Kingdom Come Deliverance waiting in the backlog.

Think MS is gonna ban the use of those keys in the future. To make this price increase worth it they'd have to do that. Way to many people know just to go the grey market route
