Question for the coat cognoscenti: I see it's 550 fill, which is sort of in the middle, but "rated" to -30F. Is that assuming a t-shirt and the coat, or proper layering?
I'm in the second camp, and definitely don't want to be soaked in sweat on a really cold day. Once you stop moving, it's miserable. I've always tended towards 3-4 thin layers including a waterproof shell if needed. I've never owned a heavy/puffy coat at all.
I tried the code on a throw and socks and it appears to be taking 20% of the current sale price. Does not seem to be limited to jackets and might work on anything as 20% off. Not sure on full price items as I did not try

The "Fill Power" isn't how much total insulation the coat has, it's a rating of how insulating the down is per gram based on the feather/down ratio. One could make a 750 power coat that insulates down to 20 degrees, and another 550 power coat to -40. But at the same rating a 750 coat will be lighter and less bulky than a 550 coat.
There is zero chance this coat is good to wear outside at -30 with a tshirt underneath. If you really needed to be outside for significant amounts of time at that temperature don't buy Eddie Bauer and don't buy based on a deal.

Wife got classic down parka. It was marked as 229. So..70% off of that. Paid ~$69.

Down are goose feathers. Is that a joke?
