I bought these for about $350 about 6 months back and I don't regret they are great value for the money. These have been so heavily discounted because the subwoofer has a flaw. The wireless module on these subs is problematic. When I connected the sub with a cable to my receiver there would always be a very faint burping noise and when I place my fingers on the woofer cone I could feel the random ticks. Upon researching I found out that there could be WiFi/2.4GHz interference causing the problem. This would not let the sub auto shutoff which was not good for me. How ever when connected using the wireless module it was less noisy. I just decided to fix it by disconnecting the wireless module on board in the back of the sub rather than returning it because there's no way you are going to get this good of a 5.1 system for that price. Just unscrew the board and pop the wireless module out. it looks just like the laptop wifi modules. you could also just remove the antenna cable on the module I believe. I just hope many folks here would read this and avoid the frustration. Klipsch should have just removed this module and sold it without the wireless marketing crap. Any way that's good for us customers.

Yes, something needs to decode and convert the digital audio to analog and amplify them to drive the speakers. i.e. a receiver.

This is extremely incorrect. A center channel carries the vast majority of dialog in a movie, so it's actually the most important speaker when it comes to a home theater setup.

Thanks. I have a question on what cables you used for wired setup. My Denon Avr S750H receiver just has Subwoofer cable output, where as this Sub has RCA inputs. So, do I need to use converter for connecting Subwoofer output from receiver to RCA inputs on Sub?

Usually subwoofer port is a female rca on the AVR just like the one on the sub . So the cable is male to male rca subwoofer cable. I had an old belkin subwoofer cable. But if you have a different port on your AVR you can search for duck cable or an adapter or make your own.

Edit: I just looked up your models back panel and you do have the subwoofer ports 1 and two in the pre out section so a regular subwoofer cable male to male will just do fine

Just tried subwoofer male to male as you mentioned. But, the quality is nowhere near the wireless setup (it's much degraded than wireless setup). I am connecting Subwoofer cable from Subwoofer 1 from pre out on the AV receiver to L/LFE on the subwoofer.

So I asked over on the home theater subreddit about a budget atmos receiver to pair with these and I instantly regret it. Got flamed all over the place. Those guys do not like theater in a box packages..

These are really small speakers (3.5" woofers and 3/4" tweeters). The most "popular" home theater speakers that are normally recommended usually have 5-6" woofers and 1" tweeters and have much bigger cabinets (i.e., more air behind the woofers). This system would probably be fine for a bedroom system or a small den at moderate volume levels. I doubt it would get to reference level before onset of distortion. I wouldn't worry about feeding these more than about 50 watts each MAX. Just about any decent avr would be fine. And that sub is rolling off at 38hz. That's a weak sub. I'd look at one of the jamo 5 speaker sets found on various posts around here rather than this set...or I'd use this money and get a really nice pair of front left/right main speakers and save up for a better sub, then a pair of surrounds, and then a center...in that order.

These little klipsch setups are meant for people who care more about form over function. Like their wives won't let them have real speakers in the family room or whatever.

And beware the the advice of some of the posters here. You have people talking about matching this up with a Yamaha Aventage 3070, which costs like $1300 just a couple years ago . Why would anyone spend that much on a powerful 9 channel amp and then pair it with 3" plastic satellite speakers?
