RTINGS Review: BEST BUDGET 55" TV
7.8/10 Mixed Usage

"The Hisense H8G is a very good TV for most uses. It's great for watching movies in dark rooms thanks to its excellent contrast ratio and full-array local dimming feature. The HDR experience is a bit limiting as it can't get quite bright enough to bring out some highlights. However, it has a good response time and very low input lag for gaming, and it's a good choice for watching TV shows or sports. It can get bright enough to combat glare, but you quickly lose image accuracy when viewing from the side."

Yes, I am really satisfied with not. Not using it as primary but in the bedroom and it fits all our needs. Little sad that it does not support HDMI 2.1 but not considering upgrading to Atmos soundbar yet. Interface is somewhat slow sometimes.

I would call this a "Super Bowl" deal. This is the lowest price on this model since a $455 introductory offer in May 2020.

Ok... So to answer my own question. I was able to apply my 10% off discount via best buy chat. The TV is not excluded in the fine print of the coupon-- TCL, Sony, Samsung, LG are excluded..

However i had issues redeeming it myself. The coupon wouldn't show up during checkout and hence i had to go through BB chat to order. YMMV though, i had to speak with 4 online reps before someone was able to apply it for me.

I'll be stacking the 10% off birthday code with 10% (5% daily, +5% promotion) best buy credit card.
Total before rewards benefits: $432 + 43$ tax.

Had this for about 6 months (paid $500 back then), used mostly for streaming TV with some movies and PS4 pro gaming thrown in. Here's my quick review

Pros:
- Color looks great after minor calibration
- Bright enough for even well lit room
- No noticeable lag for gaming
- Android TV for broadest compatibility for different streaming services

Cons:
- Sometimes backlight takes half a second to lit correctly for title cards (black screen with some texts), but it's never noticeable while actual content is on screen.
- Low end computing spec means Android can be a bit slow here and there. Also because of that, you do need to restart the TV now and again (maybe once a week) to make sure apps work properly.

For the money it's probably the best TV you can buy for $500.
Personally I went for the 55R635 a month back and I love it. Biggest differences are 120Hz, VRR and a higher peak brightness for HDR. Personally, I think it's worth the extra $100, but it's not the end of the world if you don't.
I think this probably is the Super Bowl price for this particular TV. I've been watching it for months. Lowest I'd seen was $500 until now.

I believe SMileyjoe87 was referring to the H8G having Quantum Dot tech; the R8F does not.
