Some of these rock painting kits are trash in that they usually don't contain that many bigger rocks. In fact in a kit that was opened up this past weekend 70% of the rocks were small rocks (less than 1" in size) with only about 3 big rocks that were around 2" in diameter which is about the size indicated on the box. Not all the rocks have large smooth surface areas to paint as shown and can be jagged. Additionally the paint that comes with these is usually not enough to cover too many rocks.

We were better off going in to the backyard and picking up rocks from the garden and using some leftover paint from other projects and using what we could from the kit.

Not trying to say the kit you may get is a bad one. Just be careful which kits are purchased as some don't indicate the number of rocks and will give you a few decent size rocks along with a pound of rocks that are better off used in an aquarium.
