Just recently gotten this. Had ran into a lot of problems setting this up. But since I'm good with tech I solved all the problems by myself. So I going to do a guide for transferring a landline to Obi200 and setting it up. Hopefully this will help other users.

First port your landline to T-Mobile prepaid $15 service. If you have a cellphone number you want to port you can skip this. Also remember to ask the rep for your account number when you are at T mobile. It is not your telephone number. Your account number is totally different. Once it is ported WAIT at least 3 days for it to stabilize.

Next port the number to Google voice for $20. Once ported WAIT for one day.

Then setup the obi200. You should hear a dial tone when you pick up the phone. These are key steps. Once setup up, pickup the phone and dial ***8. That will do a factory reset. Then register on obitalk site. When you go add a device. Uncheck the " I want to configure Google Voice on this device" box. Then follow the site directions. Then under approved service providers click for home. Then setup Google Voice. Then enjoy!!

Hope this help some of you. After using it for 2 weeks. I LOVED it no more spam calls. In google voice turn on filter spam.

No. This OBi200 device is best use with a standard analog telephone. Or, a cordless phone with satellite handsets (max 7). A VoIP IP Phone will not work.

I have used for years on a VOIP line, including one pg at a time faxes , as mentioned above. They work on Google voice, just fine with NO charges .

I use mine to fax from a Canon MFD fairly regularly, using Google Voice as the outbound even though faxing is not formally supported. Errors aren't nonexistent, but they're pretty infrequent. Multiple page faxes go through fine.

Jumping in to say that I too have used this for years and years (since 2012ish), when it was just Obi before the buy out but with gVoice (had that too before it was bought by google even) and these are solid. I recommend with Panasonic phones as they last a good while, and I setup with Anveo for cheap additional service like 800 numbers with full answering buildout (check it isn't international, route to vm, press 1 for x, business hours, etc.). Good buy and great price.
