fyi about rtings, they never actually get 85 inchers to review. They have no idea the issues these large sets have more frequently than their smaller counterparts.

I remember they had a late November deal for a 82" samsung tv for 1100. Which I missed out on, waiting for a deal like that again.

I have the 43 inch model. The processor is laggy and requires a hard reset (powering completely off and reboot) every couple days. Definitely a big and noticeable step down from my NU8000.

I have the 65inch and have noticed the same issue. I have no concerns with the picture or function when it works, but that hard reset can be annoying at times.

I think a series 9 tv for 85" would be better. But not sure about the deal!

IMO, the 82" RU9000 at $80 more ($1680) when signed-in to your BB account, is a better buy.
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sams...Id=6408869
From RTINGS: "Overall, the Samsung RU9000 is better than the Samsung TU8000. The RU9000 has a higher peak brightness, a much wider color gamut, and significantly better gradient handling. The RU9000 also has a faster response time, it can remove judder from all sources, and it has a 120Hz refresh rate. Input lag is lower on the TU8000, but if you want VRR support, only the RU9000 has it."

Edit: FYI... Costco Members Only Sale... through 2/12... 82" RU9000 $1499 w/ 5 yr warranty (YMMV?)

Such a great point. I really like rtings, but pretty much every review is on a 55" model. Being in the market for an 85-incher myself, I can't help but worry about what undiscovered issues might be unique to these behemoths

Why did you replace your NU8000 with a later Samsung model when they have gotten worse?

I bought the RU8000 82" from Amazon for $1099 + tax. I like the TV for the size.

Don't waste your money. Tizen is junk, 8series picture on 82 inch is terrible.
