This seems like a great price considering it is the only laptop with this form factor and resolution at that price.

Thus begins the adventure of trying to find and compare RTX 3000 series mobile wattage.

Just so everyone knows if they don't already, NVIDIA removed any requirements for laptop makers to label lower powered mobile GPU's as "Max-Q" to indicate the design emphasis is on power efficiency and noise rather than straight performance. The only way we're going to be able to compare one 3000 series GPU to another is if the laptop makers grace us by telling us the wattage they're pumping thru the GPU. In extreme cases, you could end up with severely underpowered 3070 mobile GPU's being outperformed by high powered 3060's. Gonna be fun.
How is this a deal at asking price?
That, and the i7 CPU is 4 cores, 8 threads which is comparable to the Zen U series. The 5900HS uses 8 cores and 16 threads.

Lots of horsepower in a smaller form factor but still no webcam or IR.

Great deal. Shame it's an Asus. I love their Strix cards but every Asus laptop I've owned or known someone else who owned has been a dumpster fire. I have a Q535U and it's just been letdown after letdown. Light leaky screen, touchpad that works half of the time, poor battery life, the constant inability to wake properly from sleep mode... Looks like a million bucks but acts like a buck fifty.
I recently got a G14 and I must say the quality of this laptop is outstanding. It feels very solid, good keyboard and touch pad, and we all know the rest of the specs on these are good. My previous laptops were mostly Dell Latitudes.

Also, why is this so much cheaper? Very similar specs. Is it just because it bulkier?

At a quick glance it is only a 1080p screen the OP posted a 165hz 1440 screen.

They have been very hit and miss, especially the mid-range laptops. I had one that was a complete piece of junk. Bad keyboard, touchpad, terrible screen with tons of light bleed around the edges, and upgrades were a real pain.

The 2021 Strix series laptops look really good so far though. I'm still going to research the hell out it before purchasing one though.

Are the G14's considered higher end, and thus less likely to have issues?

I'd say somewhere between the midrange and high-end.
