It's nice to see a deal posted for a bass but this doesn't seem like a great value to me. Mexican-made instruments have gone up in price and I think it's better to buy on the used market at this time. I bought a MIM Jazz from Adorama two years ago for $400 but I guess those days are gone.

I remember the good of days of great Bass deals on Adorama...I purchased three of my Fenders off that site...wish they would come back

I've been hearing some rumors that Fender is raising prices again 29-100.

These 699 instruments might be 729 in a couple weeks.

The Fender H.E.R. strat is going up from 1099 to 1199.
Some places on reverb etc are showing the new prices.

I tried to price match at MF because of 48 month interest free financing. They will price match, but then you lose the financing deal. That's a deal killer for me. Good price, but I can't swing $600+ all at once.

Agreed. I bought the P from Adorama back then. I should have bought the J then, too. I just broke down and bought the Monoprice 5 string J clone. Hoping I don't regret it.

The great thing about those cheap guitars is that you can mod the hell out of them without worrying about anything. That being said, cheap guitars are not like cheap guitars 20 years ago. Back then, you would get this particle board guitar that never stayed in tune and would go out of tune when you you simply tuned another string. To get that, today. you have to get an an extremely cheap guitar, and those are actually now getting harder and harder to find. Usually they only come in the form of some children's nylon acoustic that only Walmart or Amazon sells.

Unfortunately, that is the trend for an entry level big name. Fortunately, just because it is MIM, does not mean it will suck. If you take a look at the pricing structure across the board, you will see that ~599 is the defacto price that Fender and Gibson/Epiphone are latching on to for the made out of country counterparts.

It should not be that surprising. While i always though guitar manufactures bought wood years in advance, the cost of wood itself has sky rocketed during the pandemic (although they have predicted it would go up years ago). It was not a small increase in price either. It literally doubled in price. So maybe they are planning for the long term haul and they just need that price to increase now to compensate.

The Capri Orange Jazzmaster HH 6-string is also $599. The third party merchants are showing $729 for the jazzmaster. So get it at $599 while you can.
