In their 'Upcoming Aldi Finds' for February 3rd, Aldi has a treadmill that might be a good option for some people. It certainly isn't high-end, with only a 1.75 CHP motor, but I was looking for a walking treadmill for my office and this might do the job.

I don't see a weight limit listed, nor do I see any warranty information, but it could be a good option for people that missed out on the $299 treadmill at Sam's Club recently.

this treadmill is so small and powerless a child would have a difficult time using it for just walking

Thanks, but that is not a review, just an article stating the specs and that Aldi sells it (surprisingly). Like the rest of us, the author of the article has never actually used or even seen this treadmill in real life.

Yeah, I don't know who the target group is for which this treadmill is marketed. For both overweight, out of shape walkers as well as more advanced fit exercise enthusiasts, it is no where near robust enough or beefy enough in terms of motor and construction to handle the stress and impact over time.

Maybe it's marketed to Moms with kids who are now home-schooled and need some physical activity during the winter? I don't know, it's puzzling...

Manual incline - thumbs down

short deck and narrow deck - thumbs down

don't expect durability from this, not really for running due to flimsy make

you must use a iPad or jail-broken Fire table in order to use iFit with it, look closely at the pictures on the Aldi website - the "LCD" display is simply a scroll/reading of your time, speed, etc. - pic shows model using an iPad to get the iFit program to sync

iFit is amazing - if you want a treadmill w/iFit then get a better one, lots of people will buy this and be very disappointed and it will most definitely end up as a clothes hanger

This looks similar to the Proform Cadence WLT [walmart.com] I picked up at Walmart the other day for $300 and would be perfect for my needs:
simple cardio while watching TV.

CONS:
  • assembly isn't fun and finished product may not fit through doors easily
  • "rebound/flexible" surface encourages your feet to drag on the belt while walking

PROS:
  • affordable
  • "pockets" hold Quest controllers Wink

16"-wide path is wider than same-price machine at Academy.

1.75 hp is barely enough power to walk on. If you plan to walk briskly fast or slow jog you'll want to steer clear of this.

From treadmill reviews: BEST CHEAP TREADMILLS FOR WALKERS
Unlike runners, walkers can opt for a cheaper treadmill and still be satisfied with the workout it provides. Here are some tips to help you find a walking treadmill with the best motor power, track length, incline, and console electronics to suit your workout needs:

Motor: Look for a treadmill with 2.5 continuous horsepower (CHP) and preferably a motor that's under lifetime warranty. There's no need to choose a treadmill with greater CHP unless you carry a lot of body weight.
Track Length: Opt for a treadmill with a track length of 55″ instead of paying more for one with a 60″ track. The 60″ tracks are meant to accommodate the long strides of runners. Besides saving money, a 55″ track will also take up less floor space. That said, the more money you spend, the better the track is likely to be in terms of durability and quietness.
Incline: Power inclines with maximum 10% incline settings are typical on the best cheap treadmills for walkers, but you can find some with steeper inclines. To make the most of incline training, all of ICON's treadmills are iFit-enabled regardless of the price point. Every trainee with an iFit membership and a treadmill with incline can virtually experience the rise and fall of real landscapes charted in Google Maps. It's a great way to mix up your walking workouts and stay motivated to keep exercising.
Console: The best cheap treadmills provide accurate readouts about calorie burn and heart rate. Ideally they support wireless heart-rate monitoring, but cheap treadmills usually only have contact pulse sensors. The best cheap machines also have backlit displays so that data can easily be seen at night. Most brands use small monitors on their lowest priced treadmills, but data monitor size and technology increases and improves with price. Cheap treadmills tend to have small LED or LCD monitors. LED monitors are the more advanced option in terms of clarity and are also less expensive to maintain. More advanced treadmills have larger screens and possibly full-color HD touchscreens with video display capability.
