Can't recommend this purchase enough. Price is up from a few years back when I bought it, which is to be expected. If you are going to buy this, do yourself a favor and open a Costco credit card if you don't have one. You will get 2 extra years of warranty. 4 years of warranty, no extra cost, and it's through Costco.

I agree 100%.

We had a similar, but much worse experience with two of our whirlpool gold French Door refrigerators. I say refrigerators because we're on our 3rd one in less than 2 years. The first one was a disaster, the door ice maker auger motor went bad, then the evaporator fan motor iced over twice, and the water inlet valve stopped working. Whirlpool replaced the first one under a lemon law type of situation.

We only had the second refrigerator about 1 week before it started getting getting warm (48 degrees). My wife just about lost it, she'd spent hours and hours of time, holding for customer service over the previous year, and we'd lost 100's of dollars of food due to unsafe high temps in the fridge. Whirlpool customer service is pretty good, they immediately set up an appointment to exchange the 2nd fridge for a new one, with no questions asked.

We've had the current fridge for about a year now with no problems (knock on wood). As I said whirlpool customer service is very good, but I wish we never had to find that out.

Multiple different repairmen also reiterated the fact that we were lucky we didn't buy a Samsung or LG fridge (kind of ironic, as they were there to fix our "good" broken whirlpool), they said most of their service calls were for LG and Samsung refrigerators.

I expected much better quality from an $3,000 American made refrigerator from a well known manufacturer.

It really feels like there are no good brands anymore for most appliances, fridges included. Any research winds up showing mostly negative reviews, and sure, that's probably partly self selecting bias, but it's depressing. Are there any good ones out there?

All State Additional Warranty (For Major Appliances $1000 to $2000) Item 1051901 Price $119.99 says it covers years 3-5.
If we purchase with Costco Citi visa card will it cover 5-7 as visa covers 3-4?
I asked the question to customer service and they would not answer and want me to check with Concierge Services.

Wirlpool fridges are no longer considered reliable.
Check consumer reports.
I had a compressor leak in about 2 years...just outside the warranty!
Had a second fridge (also a whirlpool) door seal break ...just outside warranty again!
they tech said these are becoming very common with whirlpools...quality is going down the tubes!
Same thing with my whirlpool microwave....sometimes it starts by itself as soon as i close the door.
Agree. The Maytag brand used to be solid but cannot say that after whirlpool acquired it

Found this link from another response so it will be 7 years for $1900 with tax and extended warranty.

My 25+ year GE refrigerator is still working fine.

The surface on the doors (two-door kind of model) has many small rust spots; inside looks fine.

I am kind of afraid to replace it with a more complicated, modern one that is not as reliable. :-)

That's not exactly right. I am actually looking at this exact model right now on my CR app and it scored a 71 overall, and Whirlpool French door refrigerators (which tend to be less reliable than standard top and bottom or side by sides) received an overall "Good" rating.

LG and GE both also received a "Good" reliability ratings for their French Door fridges, but Samsung only received a "Fair" rating.

I am hoping Costco can carry Bosch fridges.
My MIL insisted on an all-Bosch kitchen (and we are now renting their house while they work out of state) and I am thoroughly unimpressed. The dish washer was so weak I had to rinse before putting everything in, using Finish powerballs that were recommended by Bosch. I changed to Cascade which helped some but still the thing seems underpowered. The microwave's handle snapped off about a year ago when the microwave was 5 years old. It also seems very underpowered. I'm not at all sold on Bosch. They already replaced the fridge with a Samsung. My bet is they'll regret that.

This is the lowest price I could find in recent past.
The same Refrigerator used to be ~$1200 in 18-19 before new tariffs imposed in past couple of years.

2-year Manufacturer's Warranty
Accu-Chill™ Management System
EveryDrop™ Filtration
Adaptive Defrost
Adjustable Gallon Door Bins
Stainless Steel comes in Fingerprint Resistant

Use costco Visa for 4% CB and a total of 4 years warranty.
Or use Chase freedom to get 5% CB on Wholesale Clubs. Not sure if online orders qualifies for 5% CB.
So, the American companies CRIED to congress that they can not compete with cheap labor and they got what they wanted TARIFFS... but on Samsung, LG, etc... no tariffs were imposed on Whirpool... but that did not stop them from jacking up their prices so they can GAUGE the consumers.

A year ago, bought a new Samsung French Door and that thing stop freezing in 3 days. Talked to Samsung support escalated to Executive but they would not respond. Luckily Sears replaced free of charge with Whirlpool and it has been great.

Samsungs look good with all the bells and whistles but that's very misleading. Their support from far east was a nightmare.

Samsung makes horrible appliances had same nightmarish experience with a washer. Only Sticking with Samsung for Cell Phones and TVs for now.

I'll chime in with my experience, I have a similar whirlpool that's probably 6 years old now and it's fantastic. I did have one problem where it wouldn't cool after a power outage, but it was the issue already mentioned here of too much stuff in the back, blocking the airflow, so it fails it's startup check. Move the stuff, power cycle, back up and running.

My brother bought a nice samsung with the glass door and all that, the ice maker was garbage. He had their techs out 3 times to repair it (in less than 6 months) and it still iced up and jammed almost right away. The techs all said the same thing, the design is flawed. I think it's just difficult to design a fridge that makes the ice in the top, the refrigerated compartment - it has to suck the cold freezer air up to the unit and some brands, especially Samsung, their implementation is flawed

It was thru lowes and they very reluctantly allowed a return but we had to physically return the unit ourselves (hard!).

He returned it and bought a Bosch and couldn't be happier.

I've had this over 2 years, and I like it and would recommend it. We even took it with us when we moved cross country and it survived without any issues. Only problem to report is there are occasional cold spots in the fridge area that freeze food. It doesn't happen all the time, but once every other month a head of lettuce or quart of milk would end up nearly frozen. We just keep fruit and vegetables in the middle drawer to avoid this. Also the rubber door seal has torn in a few places from heavy use from a big family.

Never getting a whirlpool again, the ice maker died within 3 years and having it on the inside corner of the fridge takes up more space than you think. My 23 cu ft with the ice maker on the door is way more useful.
