Can't recommend this purchase enough. Price is up from a few years back when I bought it, which is to be expected. If you are going to buy this, do yourself a favor and open a Costco credit card if you don't have one. You will get 2 extra years of warranty. 4 years of warranty, no extra cost, and it's through Costco.

I agree 100%.

We had a similar, but much worse experience with two of our whirlpool gold French Door refrigerators. I say refrigerators because we're on our 3rd one in less than 2 years. The first one was a disaster, the door ice maker auger motor went bad, then the evaporator fan motor iced over twice, and the water inlet valve stopped working. Whirlpool replaced the first one under a lemon law type of situation.

We only had the second refrigerator about 1 week before it started getting getting warm (48 degrees). My wife just about lost it, she'd spent hours and hours of time, holding for customer service over the previous year, and we'd lost 100's of dollars of food due to unsafe high temps in the fridge. Whirlpool customer service is pretty good, they immediately set up an appointment to exchange the 2nd fridge for a new one, with no questions asked.

We've had the current fridge for about a year now with no problems (knock on wood). As I said whirlpool customer service is very good, but I wish we never had to find that out.

Multiple different repairmen also reiterated the fact that we were lucky we didn't buy a Samsung or LG fridge (kind of ironic, as they were there to fix our "good" broken whirlpool), they said most of their service calls were for LG and Samsung refrigerators.

I expected much better quality from an $3,000 American made refrigerator from a well known manufacturer.

It really feels like there are no good brands anymore for most appliances, fridges included. Any research winds up showing mostly negative reviews, and sure, that's probably partly self selecting bias, but it's depressing. Are there any good ones out there?

Whoa did refrigerator prices go up? Bought this at AJ Madison way back for $12XX
All appliances went WAY up. First from the Trump Tariffs adding $100-$200 per appliance, then the pandemic.

I used to repair appliances for a period of time.
My Jennair JBRFR36IGX French Door 2008 fridge just stopped cooling and freezing. It turned into a heater. (the fridge runs at 77 degrees. Freezer slightly cooler.)

Any idea how much a compressor repair would be? (not that I really know what's caused it to stop cooling)

Complicating this situation is Covid - we moved my uncle from a care center in with us so he wouldn't die like everyone else was in the care center. I really don't want a repair person inside the house till we're vaccinated.

So we are using a tiny garage fridge and eating sardines & avocado. On the good, we've all lost weight! Maybe I should just replace the garage fridge with this for now.

Sucks. I just spent $600 more for a worse fridge. Fridge broke and it was an emergency so had to get what I could on the same day.

The reason it feels like theres no good brands anymore is because of the internet. Appliances are "mandatory" in the USA, hence there are ALOT of them. When you have an abundance of product+internet reviews you will mainly see the negative ones. Why? People don't post about a fridge that has no problems, because they have no incentive to; they are not looking for a solution or feel motivated to let others know to stay away from the brand. However, when something goes wrong, people start to scour all over to find a solution. So combine millions and millions of refrigerators and add a 1% failure rate, and you get thousands and thousands of negative reviews Smilie

Something to think about.

I was able to get Lowe's to price match this deal. Warranty is not as good but If you don't have Costco membership or have some points to redeem towards hardware store (chase reserve). I was also able to get a future delivery date for May.

Same exact experience with the frozen spots, mostly the top left
I have the same fridge and can confirm this. Top left is where things freeze. It's because that's where the ice box is and the back corner of the ice box has an exhaust vent that blows ice cold air directly into the rest of the fridge.

I also noticed the temperature setting on the console is not accurate at all. If I set it to 34 degrees, everything freezes inside. I bought a temperature thermometer and confirmed it was about 5 or 6 degrees off. Now I have it set to 38 degrees and it has helped drastically.

Yes although it's not as strong as the sides. I'm assuming it's because they have a thin stainless steel covering over it and what the magnet is trying to stick to is the metal behind it.

I have had this fridge for 8 years with only minor problems. If you over fill your freezer it won't close properly and begin having frost and ice. The fridge has a rubber seal that will break down in about a year where it starts ripping at the bottom left corner of the left door. Bought a new one and it does it again.

Dang it.... just bought this last month for $1,999. Just outside of the 1 month price adjustment window too. Good deal anyway.

Absolutely hated this fridge. I bought from Costco and exchanged it 3 times before finally returning it for a different brand. The first and third fridges were badly dented and the water filter spout leaked into the fridge. The 2nd fridge water dispenser didn't work at all.

I recommend seriously reading the negative reviews on this fridge. The absolute worst experience purchasing. Never again buying a whirlpool.
Curious, which brand did you end up trading it for?
