Normally for freezers, fridges and things that have refrigerant can be layed down on their side, but require 24-48 hours for the refrigerant to settle before you can plug them in.

Look up the freezer dimensions, add buffer for packaging, measure your trunk space.

Why even ask a question like this? No one knows which SUV you have, how much clutter you have in it, and which of the 3 freezer sizes you want.

Can I pick it up in my SUV laying flat on the back?
Yes, but keep it upright for a few days before plugging in as others have mentioned. When I picked mine up a few years ago, the Best Buy pick-up guy asked what car I had brought to make sure it was big enough. I told him don't worry, I brought a SUV, not the Prius. He said oh it will probably even fit into a Prius.

I would suggest buying the biggest size you can fit into your garage. We got the 5 Cu FT and thought it would be more than enough. Nope....somehow you find a ton of stuff to fill it with (especially during a pandemic).

I've bought two of these in 3.5 Cubic Feet right before the pandemic got out of control across the US. ( Ordered and picked up from store on separate days. They were a great investment. I also bought another when it came in stock about two months ago for my mother in law.

I love two 3.5 instead of one 7.0. I was able to fit in the back seat of my chrysler 300 taken out of the box.

Edit: and I did leave upright for over 24 hours before plugging in.

Bought one last year turned into a Keezer. Fits three 5g kegs but must use Torpedo 5g and Slimline Torpedo 5g (these sit on the bottom floor). Add a collar and 3rd keg sits on the shelf with room for the CO2 inside. Put the right size collar and still room for a 2.5g or 3g if you want.

Sits in my garage- I experimented pointing a fan at it that would turn on when the unit turns on to cool which helped it cool back down to 38F quicker than without the fan, less cycling/cycling time. Overall has been a great unit

Paid full price for the 5 cu ft one early on in the pandemic. I wanted the 3.5 but the 5 was the one that came into stock.

That being said, I am glad I ended up getting the larger one. Its honestly not that much bigger in dimensions but the extra storage is worth having. Mine is completely full and been working great.

I've had this exact model in my garage in Florida for about 2 years now. So far so good.

You sure you have the "NS-CZ70WH0" and not the "NS-CZ70WH6"? The dimensions are different and one of the reviewers of the WH0 says the floor can fit 4 corny's (even has a picture).

I only ask because I'm considering buying one for this exact purpose but want to fit 4 with no collar.

Who is the manufacturer? Costco has similar 7cf freezer for $159 made by Meidi. Only problem is it is OOO in store.
There's a real good chance this one is made by midea too. I ended up picking one up from Costco though, the 1 year warranty on the Insignia is just a little suspect.

This 5cu ft Insignia freezer burned my house down. Highly recommend looking into the fire risks of plastic-cased chest freezers. They ignite and burn terrifyingly hot and fast.

I'll only buy all-metal freezers for the rest of my life.

Yes I did just don't plug it in right away. They reccomend 6 hours to plug in but I let it sit 24 to be safe & works great..... sorry hit reply to wrong person

I have had the 5 cu freezer in my garage for over 3 years with no issues. I am located in Minnesota and the garage is insulated, but unheated.

I was able to fit the unit in the back of a Honda CR-V without removing it from the box.

The 7 is a good price and less depth vs the 5. Important for those who don't want it to stick out as much.
