I have 805 fico and they decline my Application for Venture credit card and wasted 1 credit check. I won't be applying any Capital one credit card anytime soon.
Call the reconsideration line, could be an error on the app or a typo. Happened to me before
Keep in mind that you'll also get a hard pull from all 3 bureaus anytime you apply for a Capital One credit card.

So they have a pre-approval site https://www.capitalone.com/credit...reapprove/

It is a soft credit check. I tried it and shows similar Quicksilver card but without welcome bonus and $39 fee as pre approved. I obviously want the bonus but just wondering if these 2 products even though almost similar have different approval criteria.

Yes, the one with an annual fee is a "starter" card. They will start you at a low limit and never increase it much (mine has gone from 500 to 700 in 2 years, while my Amex is $30k, csp $10k)

And PayPal card is through synchrony, I believe. Hard pass
I have the card and haven't had any issues with customer service or redeeming rewards. What have you heard?

There's an Amazon store card by synchrony that gets a lot of bad reviews. They also do Macy's and other store cards. It's not necessarily a bad card to have but I went with the citi double cash for my 2% card, after much deliberation.

Yes I have doublecash too. But decided to switch to paypal because it's 2% straight cashback, not broken up like citibank. There's no minimum to redeem, and no foreign fees, so I can use abroad (when we decide to travel again)

I have other cards with no ftf, but I don't see that being an issue for about a year. I went mostly off the bad reviews saying people had trouble paying their bill, or payments posting late. I am going to stick with citi, chase, capital one and Amex for now

Interesting. MasterCard wasn't even an option when I got mine.

Not recommended to sign up for a credit to get $200 bonus and then be 20k in debt and destroy your credit, not a good deal
that just sounds like being stupid which can happen whether or not you have a credit card

I want some credit cards which have this cash bonus and x2 deals, but still have "peace of mind" covering plans: price protection, purchasing protection, even phone warranty plan(bill payment monthly)..Like Amex used to have but they dropped them last year.

Hmm, 800+ credit score and they approved me... for $1000?!?! Lowest limit I've had on a credit card in a long time. I guess I'll probably use this one enough to collect the bonus, then throw it in a drawer and use it once annually just to keep it active.

I got the same results. I wonder if the pre-approval site ever shows a cash-back-sign-up-bonus card in the results.

Hey, all you needed was a limit of $500 to spend $500 to get your $200. 🤣
