I have 805 fico and they decline my Application for Venture credit card and wasted 1 credit check. I won't be applying any Capital one credit card anytime soon.
Call the reconsideration line, could be an error on the app or a typo. Happened to me before
Keep in mind that you'll also get a hard pull from all 3 bureaus anytime you apply for a Capital One credit card.

Yes. Have used virtual card numbers with this before. Be aware limited to just a chrome extension though which is inconvenient for most people who exclusively use mobile devices.

Can the chrome extension be use on phone?

Not recommended to sign up for a credit to get $200 bonus and then be 20k in debt and destroy your credit, not a good deal

Only use what you needed for, pay it off each month. No debts. Free $200 and 0% for 15 months lol

Signed up for this, with a 800+ FICO I got 21+%, add to that, their fraud dept called me, gave me a case ID and because I don't have a card number yet, wanted me to give them my full SSN, fark that! Now I remember why I let my last card from them lapse and get canceled for non use.

I decided to get one mostly for the no foreign transaction fees (I order food stuff from the Caribbean like hot sauce quite a bit) . 30K credit line, first CapOne I have had since I closed out my venture years ago. I also opened a sapphire from chase a few months ago and interestingly that one was a 22K credit line (not sure how they came up with that number). Im interested in this Eno ext thing

Chase first (I already have that one too though). Overall it has a few extra perks (Chase) but despite what you see on this site CapOne does have good clickthrough deals I see.

They all seem random to me including chase / amex. In theory they all pull from the same info so part of me wonders if they are looking at stuff like gross income in addition to FICO. My FICO 9 is in the mid 830's and my FICO 8 is around yours (goes up and down by a few points a month. I think some of it is also if they have a history with you in the past (I had used CapOne a lot all the way back from when I was added on a parents card in HS years ago and never have defaulted on anyone ever). It also for sure has to do with if you have any other open cards. IE chase for example will have a total amount of credit they dont really want to extend beyond to a given person so if someone has 2 cards with 30K limits, they likely could get a third card but suddenly it will be a much lower limit. Also some of it is demand... ie the bank says "our target is aggregate new credit lines of $____ over X time period" so you can sometimes just miss it by a little and fall into a different pool.

I wish card issuers would just take a peek at an individual's FICO to approve a credit application. We all know it is not that simple. Each card issuer designs their own algorithm not only to approve or decline a credit application, but also to determine the credit limit and the APR of the new credit card account. These include, but not limited to, number of recent hard inquiries, number of new accounts recently open, overall credit utilization, average age of credit, your relationship with the bank, etc.

i have a 830 credit score and was denied. they wanted a proof of i.d. and social security. i've never had to do that before with a credit card application before. is that normal now? they denied me for no proof even though i sent a phone pic of i.d. and social security card.

Watch out for Capital One, they have been doing lots of bait and switch and not honoring bonus money. My wife open a new 360 checking account and they didn't give her the $200 bonus (fine print said she can't have an account in the last 24 months) and she didn't.. and I sent 3 business referral for their spark cards.. received 1 referral $200 bonus.. but they refuse to pay the other 2.. even tho their fine prints and marketing materials said I can earn up to $1000 referral bonus. Very shady practice.

I have this card, it's OK but if I were getting a new card I'd look elsewhere to get more cash back.

Another thing that's annoying about Capital One is that they will decline legit charges way too often. That's a real pain, annoying and a waste of time and I've had it mess up online orders. It may save them some money, but that shifts the problem to me. Lame.

Also, Capital One will report business cards on your personal credit, so it really screws up your credit rating unless you pay it BEFORE it shows up in a statement. Otherwise your personal credit report can show $50k swings in your credit usage. Other companies don't report business cards on your personal credit report.

Citibank Double Cash and Chase business and personal cards work for us.

I have this card with about an 8500 limit on it. I too agree that lots of things get flagged and if I dont respond to the text quick enough my card gets declined. Happens quite a bit actually (i guess thats a good thing for fraud prevention?). Per usual in a CC thread, lots of poser posts and apparent cc gurus. Although not the best card in the world it works for me.
