I really want to love Alienware. Good support and a decent product. But, after purchasing an Aurora last year, I won't be buying them again.
The cases are "cool" and all. But, when I cant stick a 11" video card (2080) in even that case...you can forget this product. Upgrades are part of PC evolution and lengthen the life expectancy. I want to be able to upgrade to anything.

I'll stick with full size cases thanks.

Id say this is a good deal for people who need a computer right now. But for people who want something that can be upgraded and not have to deal with dell support and proprietary things I recommend waiting for graphic cards to come back in stock.

Build this on pcpartpicker & the unavailability/markup of the 3070, this is a decent deal.

I have the Aurora r10 with the 3700x and a 2060 super.
Here are some prime notes for you all to clarify some things that ppl think:
1- RAM upgrades can be a pain 3rd party, but there are forums ppsts on this, and you can use corsair vengeance. Bios supports up 3400mhz, but only with 2 sticks. I went with 2x 16gb corsair
2- SSD additions are super easy and rheres space for 3 + 1nvme pcie, but you have to enable it as AHCI in bios. (Flick of a switch)
3- the overclock on the alienware software is great, but has its bugs, and I have an easier time with Msi afterburner
4 - upgradeability: forget all the nonsense you heard. U can upgrade virtually anything on the machine with it given specs. Ram a and drives above. I added a corsair h60 liquid cooler aio for the cpu. Changed all fans to noctuas. The GPU is maxed out at around 11 inch. While this is not ideal for some, this is a small form factor computer. Its only a little bit bigger than a ps5 in height.
5- looks: its hot. You would be crazy to not think its cool looking in person. Lights are fun to play with too.
6-noise: change out the fans asap. They are loud af. Especially the top fan. Get rid ASAP.
hope that helps. Im very happy with my purchase and i can run any game i throw at it at least 50fps on high.
3700x is by no means a bottleneck
Thanks for the notes, what did you replace the top fan with? I'm currently running an older Alienware X51 and it is indeed very loud, wish there was a liquid cooling option for this one.

So i can almost guarantee that the top fan is culprit. You have 2 options: swap the top fanAND cpu cooler with a corsair H60 AIO (which comes with a fan). Or option 2, just replace top fan (should deal with most of the noise) with a Noctua NF-F12 PWM -or- Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM -or- a Corsair ML120 Pro Pwm

I wouldn't buy this system with the intention to upgrade. You can't be sure the board would run faster ram and the gains (if any) would be small.

I also wouldnt worry about any bottlenecks here...if thats a worry for you then build a pc. Honestly, don't worry about it.

If you're buying a system for benchmark competitions then you want to build one.

You're asking about very small gains..0-10fps at best. Im sure some one will disagree, but some people do obsess over a few fps.
Youre only kind of wrong. The amd ryzen 3700x prefers high mhz ram. The board only supports up to 3400. I went from 2600 to 3200 and got massive speed gains. Idc about frames. Its just snappy af and fast to open and close apps. I linked the ram upgrade in another comment.

Im not sure what standard size is, but yeah it looks normal.
Heres the thing - the psu lives on a swing bracket. That swing must hold the psu and also is a cable management area to tuck cables in. The longer the psu u slap in, the less cable mngment space u have. Idk how much it matters considering the case does not have a window

Measured about 3 inch width, ~6 inch height. Length you probably have at least 7-8 inches i think.
