Much preferred the books to the show. More of a traditional "flawed hero's journey" arc, if you like that kind of thing.

Loved the show (though I felt they really phoned it in in the last season) and I always wanted to read the novels.

Thanks!

Solid book, a bit different from the show but damned if it's not a strong counterpoint to Harry Potter.

I'm just annoyed because I've never seen the second book on sale but I've gotten the first and third for two bucks apiece.

The novels are so good and get into a lot more of the motivations of the characters and the ending in the novels is so good as well.

Better than the tv series. But not in the typical fashion because the books and the tv series tell different stories. Sort of.

So good. I got them all on audible. I wish he'd write another one.

Book 1 and Season 1 track pretty well, but they start to diverge after that. I enjoy both, but still need to catch up on the show.

Yes!
Show turned out disappointing from the very start. Didn't get much better. Not terrible by itself, but as an adaptation of the books, just meh. Even in the planning stages...

Hmmm, one of the main characters is supposed to be a somewhat withdrawn, mousey even, girl. Will TV audiences like that?
Well then, let's make her a blonde with big boobs!
Hey, but won't that change the story?
Naw, we'll put glasses on her... same thing.

Sex, drugs, death and cynicism abound so probably not for most tweens
