Can this be used for a desktop computer? And how?
You need a dedicated magnetically shielded speakers for desktop. I used Klipsch prologic dedicated speakers with my PC boosted by a tube amplifiers.

it has. you just need an audio interface that has banana plugs out and take tos link or digital rca in from sound card.
Actually no if these are not magnetically shielded. The PC will distort your audio and worse will give a hissing feedback especially if placed close to the desktop. Use a magnetically shielded speakers for PC use.

tl;dr: You don't need magnetically shielded speakers for PC use.

I think somewhere along the way you got it mixed up what the magnetic shielding in loudspeakers is intended for. It's not to prevent audio quality distortion from outside in the speaker itself. The signals within the speaker are high power and the internal magnets are very powerful, so external magnetic field impact on them is negligible. What the magnetic shielding is for is to prevent the powerful magnets in the speaker from affecting the CRT-based displays (either home TV or PC monitor), which are sensitive to external magnetic fields, and in the worst case, a part of the display can become permanently magnetized, distorting the picture quality even if the external source of the magnetic field is no longer present. That's what the built-in degauss feature is for that some CRT displays have.

But since we no longer primarily use CRT-based displays, magnetic shielding in speakers is no longer that important. The magnetic field from speakers is also not strong enough to be a problem for HDDs either in case you're wondering.

Appreciate all the good info here from people who've tried these!

Anyone have any thoughts on whether these would be a significant improvement over the Infinity R162 speakers? (the 162s are fine for movies where the center and sub make things shine, but I find them meh for music for some reason).

If they would be a noticeable improvement, will these blend okay with the Infinity 263 center?

Running a Yamaha 7850 avr, with bass management ("small"), if that's relevant.

Edit: for anyone considering these vs the r162, I take back my complaint about the r162 with music. My receiver had "enhancement" enabled on the airplay input. Once I disabled that, things are sounding great.

I have the R152's. I haven't heard the Triangles, but from much that I've seen or read online, they would sound quite different and not blend with the Infinity reference center very well.

I purchased these in one of the previous deals. The sound is excellent for the money. I'm sure you can find something that's some people would like better but you're not going to find anything significantly better for the money. I don't think anyone would disagree with that. I like them enough that I bought a pair of BR02s as a gift for my daughter's room.

The only thing with that would make me hesitate is that I worry about the durability of the exterior finish. The finish appears to be a relatively thin wrap. This is going to be fine if you have a house of responsible adults. I don't think these would hold up to repeated lightsaber hits like my Polk Signature speakers have. The speaker still look great.

Overrated.
I auditioned these vs kef q150 and wharfedale diamond 11.2. Enjoyed these the most for the clarity of the highs. At first I was in love with the kef, but realized they were lacking highs when I received these. As they say, I suppose it's up to personal preference though. I debated kef and br03 for a long while.

Agree to disagree. For many people their desktop is their primary listening station. I have a pair of LS50 on my desktop and an VS SB2000 under the desk. It's about as close to a fortress of solitude that I can have now with 3 children. While this may be overkill for you, it won't be for others.
It's not a matter of agreement. He's technically right that you need an amp if you want to run these speakers. You can use a computer as a source for sure, but computers can't power speakers since it only has a line level outs. If you are using LS50 speakers, then I assume in you are using an amp as well.... unless you have the wireless version of the LS50 which is self-powered, in which case you wouldn't need an amp.

Thoughts on these vs the Elac sale? Trying to compare to Elac Debut 2.0 B6.2 to be closer in spec but not finding a sale link. Full price at $350 a pair https://www.elac.com/series/debut-2-0/b6-2/

$70 cheaper at Amazon.

Ps: just realized that if you leave that page in your link open long enough, a 20% off coupon pops up. So, about same as Amazon.
