Home Depot [homedepot.com] has the Ryobi P519 18V Cordless Reciprocating Saw [Tool Only] for $59.

At this price for a new tool, it's only slightly above what you might get at online refurbs/blemished, and it's available in store or free shipping. Good for those who already have other Ryobi One+ 18V tools. Note, it does NOT come with battery or charger.

Also note, that this not brushless, though some of the reviews on the brushless version haven't been as good.

I bought the Dewalt version of this from $149 BOGO deal. I didn't really need the drill but did the need battery, as we don't have any Dewalt tools. We have many Ryobi tools, so we have that battery already. Should I return the Dewalt tools and get this one? Bought it for my husband's birthday. It would save me $90. Not technically, since I did get the battery and drill, but is the Dewalt THAT much better? My husband would only need this type of tool, occasionally, for things that might pop up around the house. He's not a handy man or big into tools, so he doesn't care about which brand. I just want to get him a good one. Any advice is appreciated!

For my intended use, I plan to get a pruning blade and trim the occasional branches. Dewalt is great, but I suspect for the occasional job, the ryobi would be fine. Plus, it sounds like you probably have more than one battery for the ryobi, so you can have one at the ready, in case you run out.

Thank you for the reply! That's exactly what I needed to know. I'm returning the dewalt and got this one instead. I think my husband would prob use it for the exact same thing, so I'll get one of those pruning blades, as well. Thanks, again, for the advice and repped!

I've got the Ryobi. Put it through some pretty rigorous tests. Has been stellar. Just make sure you use good, sharp blades.
