Could not justify the up charge for a 2TB so I just got a 1TB a few weeks ago, and its working well. I am using a 2TB Samsung for my game drive so a okay.

Rightfully so. There's no reason to keep all your software on this, only the applications/games that would benefit the most.

I'm not sure about every service, but Steam has a very easy to use game transfer feature, so you can download games and archive them to a bigger/slower drive and move them to the fast drive whenever you want.

I'm considering my first mini itx build with a Gigabyte motherboard. It would be nice to stick with the same brand as much as possible. Pretty sure I'll get this. 2tb is perfect.

The Samsung SSD is my Steam and Epic drive and it never gets saturated enough by any game. I use the M2 as my boot drive since I was building a new AMD rig with the ryzen 9 5900X I got.

Still $40 too expensive, and $150 more expensive than what the average user/gamer would notice

Dude, I never really liked Gigabyte bios software or its app store. I might look somewhere else for a motherboard.

Significantly cheaper than the Samsung 980 Pro 2TB drive. Is this pretty comparable?

I was hoping it would be, but NOPE. It is not. Unfortunately, we have got to pay attention to the differences. The first gen 4 drive I bought was on a good sale on Amazon for $120 for a 1TB. It is a fast drive, but it boasts similar 5k reads and 4k-ish writes like this drive.

Both this drive and the XPG I purchased are not in the same league as the newest 980 Pro from Samsung and 850 Black from WD. Those drives boast 7k reads and 5k-ish writes. $160 for a 1TB might not seem bad, but the performance is closer to top tier gen 3 drives than it is to top tier gen 4 drives.

Still a good price, and I fault no one for buying it, but I also don't consider it "slick". Not yet! I think we're getting there though.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll do more research. I've never had a Gigabyte motherboard.

GIgabyte is fine - they all pretty much look "similar" . Menu layout might be slightly different but they all do the same thing. Although it's a valid criticism, you aren't really messing with the bios day in and day out. Shop for what you want. Personally I go for performance and price, how the BIOS looks is probably the lowest priority.

Any ideas on overheating while stressed? Does it come with any heatsinknpr cooling options or do you have to get a 3rd party one?

I wanted this to match my mobo but the performance reviews obviously favor the Samsung 980 pro and Western Digital SN850. I'll be going with a 1tb with those for boot and storage. I currently use a Samsung 860 evo for boot drive so it'll be a nice bump in speed
