LG/Samsung uses crap metals. My Samsung Spider Arm deteriorated after just 8 years washing clothes 3 times a month! If used for families, maybe last 5 years. If you want a washer tha lasts 20+ years, buy the Maytag MVWP575GW 3.5 cu. ft. Commercial-Grade Residential Agitator Washer!

Not sure why you lump LG and Samsung together into the same class. LG is known for some of the best in the class and Samsung is known for being of very poor quality. Check consumer reports.

Would you consider Mitsubishi and Toyota to be the same since they are both from Japan?

Agreed. Seems people think LG is built the same as Samsung or by the same company. They aren't. We have owned Samsung crap and we now have a mix of a LG top load washer and Kenmore elite dryer. Both have been solid. Our Speedqueen was junk before the LG that everyone sweared by them. Everything had to be replaced in it at 3 years covered under warranty took them 3 weeks to fix. But we sold it and got the LG. Been happy since.

Consumer Reports still rates LG as the #1 manufacturer across all appliance types.

Samsung makes crap.

How's this compare with GE front load washers with so called ultra fresh vent system that presumably helps reducing moisture / bacteria build up over time in the rubber seal.?

Can't be any worse than Whirlpool. I'm on my second Whirlpool front load washer in 5 years. They leak when using the afresh cycle and it shakes rattle and rolls all over the place during the spin cycle.

I have my lg front load washer from 2007 and I have never had to repair a single thing on it. That's 3 kids and mom and dad, for differrent portions of it's lifespan, using it regularly

Are your referring to newer models? I have an LG Tromm Washer and the matching LG Gas Dryer from a 2007 Home Depot purchase.

It has been heavily used by my family for the past 14 years (at least 5-6 loads per week - two daughters.) Beyond basic maintenance (clean out lint line and washer drum clean cycle once per month, the only repair I needed to do was replace the dryer belt and pulley wheel in 2019 (it still worked but squeaked.)

It's been a solid no hassle performer for over 14 years...

Has not been my experience with the budget Samsung set I bought 10 years ago. No issues at all until this year. Had to replace the heating element in the electric dryer ($30) and the water pump in the washer ($40) and that's doing laundry every other day for 10 years.

Top load agitator washers are harder on clothes and use an excessive amount of water, soap, and energy, when compared to front loaders.
