Just because riding is more dangerous than a car doesn't mean you throw all safety measures out. It isn't all or nothing in this life, you do what you want and you risk mitigate to your preference. Not all bikers are lunatics, some of us enjoy the thrill, enjoy saving money on gas, enjoy getting to work and through traffic faster, and enjoy getting home safe.
By the way, every bike is one less car in front of you on your commute, so embrace the two wheelers out there and to the OP thank you for sharing.
Despite being in the presence of someone so smart and so knowledgeable, let me try to present some information. These have gyros that make one analysis per millisecond, and take another 30-45 milliseconds to deploy. That means you'd have a fully-inflated bag in probably under 50 milliseconds on the high side. I'm sure you are aware of how fast that is, being so knowledgeable, but for the other people that don't know better, you'd only travel ~7.4 feet flying off your bike at 100mph (just under 148fps) in that time, or about 5ft at a more sane 70mph. You'd still have 50-350 milliseconds left to complete an eyeblink.
But, now that my dripping sarcasm has stopped, I'd love to know how you being a bad rider translates to understanding time intervals.
Hopefully more motorcycle deals

Thanks to everyone who contributed helpful comments or even constructive discussions , I hope you ride long and safe!
While I never had a accident, I rode with my cousins who DID get into accidents, and I'm basing my feedback on the injuries they suffered as a result of those accidents.
b) Please explain to me how this thing is going to help you "being able to walk" if you get into an accident on your bike?
It's not going to protect your head (#1 thing to protect). It's not going to protect your limbs (arms/legs). At the most, its going to give some protection to your torso, so if you get into an accident, depending on the speed, it MIGHT save you a couple of cracked ribs etc, BUT your limbs are still 100% going to be at risk.
AND, its $699 retail, and almost $600 on "sale". So if you want to pay $600 for that extra 1%, peace of mind for your Torso, go ahead. Just know exactly what you are getting/protecting, and what you are not.
Bringing up the head as the most important thing to protect is true, but has nothing to do with this equipment. That is what helmets help to protect.
Nothing is a guarantee of full protection, but understand that any preventable back injury is money well spent if within your means.
I would pay retail of $700 without any qualms for this if I still rode. Had to give it up because everyone around me is a hazard to me. It is hard for drivers to see a biker sometimes, even while paying attention.
I am in the having crashed club. Lucky for me no serious ones. Anyone who rides has had close calls that could have gone very wrong. Think about how many times someone pulled out in front of you like you were not there. Cut you off, didn't care even though they did see you. It is really shocking when the fun gets sucked out of the hobby by the danger.
With the ubiquitous advent of texting, phone calls, and other distractions while driving, plus being married to an insurance claims adjuster who gets many cases of motorcycle accidents, I retired from riding, and not ashamed to admit it.
Personally, this is the first I have ever read of this equipment, and it sounds like a great investment for casual riders and a must for professionals.
You should also get rid of you car's airbags...
Why do you say that? The product description says for every type of use. That it's the same as in motogp. And a comment on here said they used on the track no problem.

"3. Can I use the Smart Jacket on the track too?
The Smart Jacket is designed to protect you in dangerous road situations like highside, lowside or a rear-end collision when stationary. The dangerous dynamics professional riders might experience on track are different from those that statistically occur on the open road. If you are looking for an airbag system to use during track riding, we suggest the D-air® Racing range of garments that come with an integrated airbag."
The riding condition of track is completely different. Riding track with a street vest probably result in premature deployment.

Your sarcasm (and your psychic abilities) have me floored. Nice assumptions on "I'm such a horrible rider" knowing nothing of the circumstances. Tell you what bud, buy one of these and fly off your bike at 75. Let me know how you make out, if you're even able to.
Hell, a good helmet costs this much or more these days.
eta: also nice to see a motorcycle deal end up on the front page!
