Anyone with your attitude is lucky to have a wife....
The $850 version has the drying fan and a LCD on the top control panel that shows cycle countdown and includes more delay options. The front panel has a pocket handle instead of a towel bar and includes a small LED display that I believe indicates cycle countdown.
I have the next model up with the drying fan. Compared to the LG it replaced, this model washes and drys MILES better. Glass cups come out crystal clear and my kid's plastic sippie cups/plates come out dry as a bone. I have only had it for about 2 months but have been very impressed!

Think Costco has my model on sale for $850.

Costco usually gets their own numbers and they generally don't show on the manufacturers website.
Thats not correct. The model number is one thing but the Costco Otem number is another. These models are shown on KA website.

Same model with handle

Here is the link to the model that OP posted:

Hence the term I used 'usually'. You will often find that manufacturers create a unique number for Costco.

Yeah, we like the fan drying, but it isn't perfect, and water still pools a little on the tops of tupperware and stuff. Also, the fan drying takes a long time and will keep running for hours after the cycle is done. If I had to buy again, I would probably just get the 404 model instead of the 604 model.

That being said, it's a great dishwasher line, and it was a huge upgrade from what we had before.
Dont forget the 604 also has the display PLUS a 24 hr delay function beyond just the fan. I have been researching and have installed several of these. The 604 is a clear winner for an additional 100 bucks over the 404.

I am glad my direct response helped someone! Otherwise people are too quick to click a thumbs down(which I don't care) without seeing what is being said.

Now your bonus... the Costco delivery with do FREE hall away of your dead/old dishwasher.

Dishwashers are easy removals. Shut the water knob (under sink dedicated for dishwasher) and unscrew the two screws and pull the dishwasher out. Always unplug 1st! Safety is key!

I am happy for u! Hope u got the 604 model vs what is listed here (404). Get costco item #6660706. The above all bonus is that its the 604 model with the fan drying PLUS it has an added display in front which tells you what cycle its on PLUS when its done. So u get two displays on the 604 model.
Its very sleek and does not have the Kitchenaid logo so basically it matches all diff kitchen appliances. The same model with the handle (model KA KDTM604KPS, costco
Item # 1356586) sells for $230 PLUS tax more.

Its the SAME model just a bar vs hidden handle.

If you ordered the 404 model listed by OP... cancel and get the item# 6660706.
Let me know what you ended up doing!
I much prefer the clean look of the 404. The rest isn't worth it - in fact I don't want a bunch of numbers on the front.

In for one, thanks! We like the fan dry feature of the 604 but not the black plastic front indent/handle. I know, it's just cosmetic. They make the 604 with the front towel bar but it's obviously not a model on sale at Costco.

The rules for Prop 65 warnings are so stringent as to make every P65 label the equivalent of the boy who cried wolf. They seem to be on everything. Just ignore them.

I literally just bought this exact model at full-price. Just wanted to chime in and say I'm very happy with it. My old model was a Kitchenaid that was around a decade old and the wiring was melting the internal components. I had read a lot of negative reviews of various installation services, so I opted to install it myself. I followed the process in this video and the instructions and ran into 0 issues https://youtu.be/KfONJ_l85qM.

This dishwasher holds quite a bit more than my old one. The 3rd rack is a little frustrating because the spots for mugs and glasses are not really suited for anything medium-large, but I still find ways to use the space. It does hold deep bowls without a problem and gets everything very clean. And it gets enough stuff out of the way to allow space for larger items on the lower racks. On the flipside, the right side of the 2nd rack actually has higher clearance than the top rack did in my old dishwasher. So things like water bottles and travel mugs fit there fully upright.

I've seen a lot of discussion about drying in here. I will say that this one dries MUCH better than my old dishwasher, even without the fan upgrade. The only trouble spots are tupperware that have lips that water can collect in, and the bottom of some plastic bowls if they are deep. But nothing comes out soaking wet. I just remove them first and set them on a drying rack while I unload and load the rest.

Lastly, I did have to return the first one that was delivered to me. The door comes with a plastic covering over it. I got halfway through installation and got to the part where the directions instruct you to remove the plastic only to discover a few small scratches that I'm pretty sure came from staples inside the box. So be very careful opening it and check for imperfections before you get too far. The plastic wrap showed no signs of damage, but the unit still was. I actually asked if they could just ship me a new front panel, but they could only take back the whole unit and give me another one.

I had this model installed just within the last month, and after using multiple types of detergent (comes with fancy cascade packets, and I've used store brand powder ones and tablets from blueland) I'm impressed with how everything comes out. The first run it'll buzz loudly (I've read this is normal) but after that it's very quiet.

Clearly I can't speak on behalf of the durability/reliability of the appliance, but my initial impressions are good. Only knock is I'm still reconfiguring the layout of the racks to figure out how to best fill it.

Excellent D/W. Very quiet compared to our old one. Paid a lot more for this cause our old one dying. The 3rd rack is super useful. It does take away some height from the bottom rack, but the bottom rack still fits all your standard things fine.

Thank you all for the reviews. Love hearing from current owners. Repped.

I know the controls on the bar type handle models are hidden, but there must be an indicator light or something on the front to let you know it's running and when the dishes are clean, right?

KitchenAid appliances are nothing more than re-badged Whirlpools. This is the Cadillac Cimarron of dishwashers. If you want high-end that is built to last, look at Bosch.

On 604 its easier to see. On 404, its harder to see what stage the DW is in.

Guys,

How is this compared to Costco Members: Maytag Steel Tub Dishwasher w/ Dual Power Filtration $500 vs this particular KitchenAid DW?

Our family is trying to figure if we should cancel the Maytag DW and order this KitchenAid.

Please share your advice. Thank you.
The kitchenaid third rack holds 10 glasses and lids so you have more room in the middle. It holds a lot more than the Maytag

Costco sells the towel handle style. Apparently, you have not compared. Its just that the handle style one is NOT on sale!

Must warn you of my unbridled hatred of the KitchenAid hidden control dishwasher in the house we are renting. If I owned this place, no law or custom would stop me from going Office Space on this thing.

The hidden controls are #$(@*$ stupid. Half the time I start it, it doesnt want to actually start washing dishes and the only indication that it feels like #$*(ing we us is a tiny blinking blue LED which no one can see unless they're down on their knees peering in the crack between the counter and the controls. Guess who has to do that each night until the demons inside decide to start the cycle?

Then there's dish washing efficacy. Luckily we have a seven year old and one of his chores is to QC the dishes and put the ones that didn't get washed back so we can try again. It does do a great job of baking food residue onto dishes so that it's 5x as hard to clean them manually.

Bonus is that the eco friendly dish washing soap from Whole Foods does absolutely jack in this thing.

We had an Asko dishwasher I installed in the last place we rented and some OG Kenmore in our investment property. Both of those are easier to use and actually wash dishes. The Asko was really awesome.

EDIT: this is model type 577-0. 2 rack. Maybe the new ones are better?

Yes there is a LED on the front to indicate the cycle is done. My parents have this same model. I love the minimalist style. It's extremely quiet and cleans like a dishwasher should.

I meant that it's not a model "on sale" at Costco meaning at a discount like this 404 model.
