I thought it was a great deal until i found out that most of the parts are proprietary. Correct me if i'm wrong but even the GPU is their own custom GPU which means you can't just replace it with a full size 4070/5070 next time. There's also people complaining of thermal issues. That being said, ts a fantastic price @ $1199 for a 3070 but be aware of the limitations.

Considering the street value of even a used 3070 is north of $800 right now, this should sell out in all of about 6 seconds.

7 replacements? Your persistence is commendable.

i have an anileware r7, its basically the same formfactor just different plastic on the outside, you could probably fit a factory 3070 or 3060, but there is not enough space for a 3080. i did a cup heatsink replacement to go liquid, and i had to remove everything but the power supply to put it in. the fans get loud when its hot. like its a good price, but you cant like ever do much besides add more ram or a few extra ssd.

I apologize if this is a dumb question. I have very little experience with pre builds and less with custom made parts.
When people are saying it's not upgradable they're referring to the case right? What would stop you from putting the parts in another case and upgrading later?
If someone could explain I'd appreciate it so I know going forward. Thank you

This same PC was frontpage at $1,500 last week. I cancelled that order this morning and called Dell Sales Support. They told me they couldn't do the doorbuster price but could do it for $30 more than the doorbuster price. Sold! Give them a call! YMMV

Oh man, I just built a few months ago with a 10700k and just need a 3070 card really to finish updating the rig. Currently at a 970rtx from yonderyear. If i was still on my 4790k intel from 5 years ago though, this would be a steal of a deal!

Got an Alienware Aurora R7 Intel 8700 w/ liquid cooling during the crypto phase a few years back when you couldn't find any 10xx series videos cards. Still holding up great and no issues with cooling. Just put a 3070 and a 650w power supply in and runs great. Highly recommend this setup at this price

as someone who currently uses intel.. i'd say go with the ryzen. save $100 while getting double the memory and storage.

if you're playing at 1440p or higher, the difference in performance will be negligible for vast majority of the games.

Just because shit is hilariously inflated and being scalped right now doesn't make something that is normally overpriced as hell a "good deal". Because a PS5 is $1,000 on ebay, if best buy were selling it for $700 that would be a "good deal"? too?
yes, deals are relative based on supply and demand. those things change, so what would be considered a "deal" would also change.

if you could literally not obtain an item at anything lower than, say, 20% above MSRP, then people will jump at the item at MSRP. if you don't think that's a deal and you'd rather wait, then you do you, but your opinion will not change the fact that demand is high and people will pay more.

CPU scaling with a RTX 3090 shows the Ryzen 3700X almost on par with the Core i5-10600K.

OEMs (like dell, hp, etc.) tend to use proprietary cases, motherboards, power supply, and sometimes even heatsinks. this is especially more common on their mainstream lines (inspiron, pavilion, etc.). the gaming/enthusiast lines sometimes have more flexibility, but i can't speak for alienware.

i believe there are plenty of youtube channels that will tear these down and look at them more closely. linus tech tips did several videos comparing a bunch of desktops from various OEMs/boutique companies. it was more a holistic approach - value, customer service, etc., but pretty informative. i don't remember if alienware was included, though.

So assume I wanted to purchase this PC and sell the graphics card on ebay because I am not a big gamer... What graphics card do you recommend I replace it with? I would install ubuntu linux on this so I would prefer a AMD card with a kernel linux driver.
