I thought it was a great deal until i found out that most of the parts are proprietary. Correct me if i'm wrong but even the GPU is their own custom GPU which means you can't just replace it with a full size 4070/5070 next time. There's also people complaining of thermal issues. That being said, ts a fantastic price @ $1199 for a 3070 but be aware of the limitations.
Considering the street value of even a used 3070 is north of $800 right now, this should sell out in all of about 6 seconds.
7 replacements? Your persistence is commendable.

So, I just chatted and they offered $1229 + $50. I went ahead and proceeded. Did I mess it up?
Not sure if it's worth paying extra $80 to get the liquid cooling when the pc actually will be on sale for $1199 tomorrow (that's if I can get it.)
if you can get it tomorrow just cancel your first order. thats what ill be doing.

Nice write up. Are you mining just straight using the desktop? Or are you pulling the cards and putting together a mining rig? I keep reading that it's not profitable unless your pulling the cards because you lose out on energy costs. I'm too lazy to read up on it and don't have time to figure out how to do all that.
All misinformation. I'm just mining straight on each desktop without pulling them out into some special multi-GPU motherboard rig or something. Each rig adds about 60 watts of overhead to run everything on top of the GPU, so it's not bad at all. That comes out to about 1.5 kW/h a day, which is about 18 cents a day for me, or about $5.5/mo. So I lose $5.50 a month on each rig just keeping it in each desktop.

Not nothing, but also not such a massive differential so as to make it not worth it to mine if you don't have some specialized mining motherboard rig to throw these in.

cool. so i could toss out my old computer that i keep on 24/7 to stream content to my firesticks. then replace it with this while having it mining at the same time serve as a media streamer. is that possible? or if the computer is mining is it not able to do other tasks like streaming videos?

I went into Dell live chat, pasted the deal link, and in 2 seconds the rep offered me the 1229 deal. They are definitely prepared haha.

I added liquid cooling ($50) and the killer wireless card ($20 ? i won't even use it... but can maybe move to another pc)

Estimated ship date is Feb 22nd though.so long.

This same PC was frontpage at $1,500 last week. I cancelled that order this morning and called Dell Sales Support. They told me they couldn't do the doorbuster price but could do it for $30 more than the doorbuster price. Sold! Give them a call! YMMV
I called and they told me the same thing. I said can I make some upgrades and they said no problem. I updated the hard drive to the 512 ssd and 1 terabyte sata drive. I also upgraded the ram to 3200 MHz and then I upgraded to the high performance cpu cooling. $1378.99 before tax.

For all you "I am just going to cancel" folks, I saw some blurb about "once build is triggered, order cannot be cancelled", FYI.

In for one (did the chat option today), even if you price the parts at best case scenario ($500 video card, ~$300 CPU, etc) the computer works out to be cheaper than building it. The PC was $1230 as everyone has said, paid an extra $50 for water cooling (worth it IMO) and $20 for the Killer Wifi/Bluetooth card. So, $1300 in total.

I was worried about the expandability of it, so I did some research; ton of YouTube videos on teardowns and such. Here's one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOQoN_rBQlk

The tl;dr is
4 DIMM slots, only 2 are used (2x8gb) so expanding it isn't difficult.
3 2.5in slots (2 bottom, 1 in front).
1 NVMe slot on mobo (kind of a bummer)

Honestly much better than I expected, that's basically every upgrade you'd want on a pre-built. I doubt you can replace the video card in the case though, it seems to be very small (and so the video cards are custom built to be smaller by Dell)

The fans are;
1 fan on top (replaced by AIO cooler radiator/fan combo if you pick watercooling)
1 fan on front

Kind of lackluster, but it IS possible to remove the front 2.5in hard drive caddy and add another fan there, which is what I plan on doing.

Honestly, great deal, reading reviews on the case and expandability left me excited for the delivery. Which, according to them, is supposed to be in 2 weeks, since I am now a Dell Reward member (free shipping, expedited delivery, and sign up is free).

But there must be a way to send it back. As in, if it arrives, and I think its a hunk of junk and overheats likes a mofo, I cant just call them and say, its junk i want a refund?

I worry that the "modified" GPU is going to perform worse than a regular, off the shelf, 3070RTX. I cant find any specs or comparisons to this GPU specifically and hope we arnt getting a overheating throttling mess of a GPU Frown

Dell has a restocking fee unless there is a problem with the item. You might get around it through reps but I personally wouldn't bet on it.

Yeah ordering through the chat is pretty easy. Just show them the link. I ordered so far about 15 systems and I have friends who have ordered the same each.

I chatted with 5+ reps already and no go for liquid cooling so far. What a waste
I don't think they even know it. I chatted with 3 and they told me no. However, at the end they still give me the liquid cooling one.
