I have a old iPad Pro 10.5 (cellular LTE) but to be frank I am very happy with it I've had it for a few years now but it's still runs like a champ everyday. I look at new variations time to time at stores but I don't see anything that compelling enough for me to buy a new one.

I bought one of these for my girl and the thing that bugs me the most is the hollow plastic like sound the screen makes from the big air gap between panels. Now I never knew it was that bad as I have a older 10.5" iPad Pro and mine doesn't have that gap or hollow sound. I sorta mitigated it by installing a tempered glass screen protector and feels a bit more solid. I mean I guess it shouldn't bother me since it's hers but that would drive me mad.

I think that's where Apple cut corners since the laminated type screen is more expensive to produce and is not used on the latest non Pro iPads otherwise they would charge like $100 more for them I guess.

I was under the impression the iPad Air series all had laminated screens. Except the old 9.7" one. I know the older 10.5 ones were the same as my iPad Pro 10.5" minus the 120hz refresh screen.

I don't blame you the one you have is an excellent model and since is a Pro you'd be downgrading with this one regardless of age and again the Pro has a laminated screen.

If you don't mind matte finish, the Paperlike screen protectors really dampen that sound, and obviously adds drag and cuts down on smudges. I bought a non-name brand one, and it's been an awesome upgrade, especially with the gen 1 Apple Pencil.
