This is a tried and tested laptop and almost as good as its replacement Legion 5i. Just check in YouTube for Y540 15 and you'll get tons of reviews from reputed reviewers like Dave2D, OwnorDisown, Bob of all trades, Hardware Canucks etc.
This is plastic build but has solid build quality and most importantly, very solid thermal performance for its price point and in fact better than some costlier laptops.

A lot of people will be claiming that people should get the Legion 5 with i7-10750H by paying extra $100. In that case, that $100 will be a waste of money. In Legion 5 and Y540, the performance difference between i7-9750H and i7-10750H is 5% on average and you will hardly get even 8fps higher. Instead, you can use that to may be for adding more ram or storage.
2 years old laptop, the newer Legion 5 was $999 with better display and newer processor.
Display has fast response times also. Note that you need to enable optimus to get decent battery life.

Had the 17 inch version of this. Really solid device, had good cooling and never ran hot. Display was great and honestly prefer the build quality on this than the newer legion 5.

I got the i5 version with same chassy and have liked it a lot so far. Good performance for gaming and VR and the thing does have good thermals.

eBay has Ryzen 7 with 1660ti for the same price and same configuration. 2060 is definitely more capable but intel runs hot as hell and suffers in performance because of thermals. For those who need to strike a balance between productivity and gaming, Ryzen with 1660ti is better option. The graphics power difference is roughly 20%.

I know. But that particular Vendor is not allowed in Slickdeals, no matter where there selling their products, whether in eBay, Amazon or newegg.
