I just purchased a Synology DS120J last night. How does that enclosure compare to this WD? Other than single vs dual drive and the WD being more powerful. What should I go with for file storage?

It has enough cpu power. But WD uses its own apps.

Got this on amazon and eventually returned it. It's a not useful at all. Product claims that it can support plex but we can hardly stream a video. Takes days to copy data from usb drive to nas... very slow !!! I couldn't believe it took me 6 days to copy 1 tb of data.

I have an EX2. It can be used with non WD drives. For reasons of compatibility, I chose to put a WD Red NAS drive in it and then another WD drive shucked from an elements enclosure. You can also put different size drives in it in the JBOD mode.

FYI - I purchased the 8GB (2 4GB drives) setup back in 2015 and has been working great for me since then. No complaints for what I need, which is to save and access files occasionally. I wouldn't recommend working off of it though. For instance, working on an Illustrator file on this NAS drive can be slow to save. Easy fix would be to work off your desktop and transfer over once you're done with the file

Also, given how long this model has been out, not sure if there are any other better options with better hardware out there.
