Signed up for this in December. This is my first car mag subscription since I stopped my MotorTrend back in 2004. Got my first issue in the mail today. Here is what I see:
1. Magazine seems ultra thin compared to back then
2. Much of Magazine is Ads
3. That pink helmet issue pictured here is a combined February/March issue! Yup, you're not going to get 12 issues a year.
4. At the rate magazines are shuttering-Ten Magazines shut down 19 of their 22 automotive publications last year - it remains to be seen if this publication makes a full 4yrs.

Would I subscribe again? No.
Do I feel bad about my choice? At "$10 for 4yrs" I can't say I am feeling too beat up about it...

These magazines are all advertisement anyway. I even quit my subscription when they were free.

I don't agree that there are too many ads. I can't actually recall a single ad now that I think of it. You just have to flip the page, it's not like you have to read the ad to unlock the rest of the magazine.

Did anyone else see the thumbnail and think there was a new Daft Punk album?

ARGH! I just received it and didn't even notice. They changed the EIC, cut off a few signatures (32 pages at least), and lopped 1/2" or so off the total height and width.

I've been holding my nose since the changes the past year (and not because of the location of my reading room), looking forward to columnists like Ezra D. and bypassing the PC fluff articles. Their Irreverence was mostly toward the industry, but now their irreverence is at their base subscribers. This irreverence is going to make them irrelevant. So sad for one of the best mags.

At this rate, Motor Trend is sadly going to be the better magazine. And who knows how long that'll be in print form.

Bias magazine that I wouldn't read for free, much better articles on the internet. They get paid off by car makers as a promoter.

Not a bad deal, but I'm noticing more and more attempts to push readers to the digital content. "Scan here to watch a video of..." makes sense. "Scan here to read about..." defeats the purpose of a print magazine.

It was a double issue this month because of lightning lap. Well worth it.
